About The Position

The Surface Technician prepares surfaces and parts before or after painting. This includes grinding, sanding, buffing, masking areas that will not be painted, filling cavities and dents, and repairing surfaces to achieve the required finish. The technician cleans and prepares items for painting using solvents, sandpaper, and wire brushes, moves painted articles to and from the paint booth, and finishes surfaces using materials such as sandpaper, pumice, compound, and wax. The role also involves maintaining a clean and safe work environment and completing other tasks assigned or approved by the supervisor.

Requirements

• Background in paint and body repair with a minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Self-starter with proficiency in budgeting time.
• Possess basic hand tools for the position and upgrade tools as required to complete assigned tasks.

Nice To Haves

• Certificate from an accredited technical or industrial trade school.

Responsibilities
