About The Position

The Surface Technician prepares surfaces and parts for painting and performs finishing work. Responsibilities include grinding, sanding, and buffing before or after painting; masking areas that should not be painted; filling cavities and dents; and repairing surfaces to attain the required finish. The technician cleans and prepares articles using solvents, sandpaper, and wire brushes, moves painted articles between the preparation area and paint booth, and polishes finished surfaces using sandpaper, pumice, compound, wax, or other materials. The role also requires maintaining a clean and safe work environment and completing other tasks as assigned or approved by the supervisor.

This is a full-time position located in Rochester Hills, Michigan. The salary range is undisclosed.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of hands-on experience in paint and body repair.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Be a self-starter with proficiency in budgeting time.
• Possess basic hand tools for the position and upgrade tools as required to complete assigned tasks.

Nice To Haves

• Certificate from an accredited technical or industrial trade school.
