About The Position

Set up and operate surface grinding machines to grind precision parts to required tolerances and surface finish specifications. This role involves reading and interpreting blueprints, work instructions, and engineering drawings, as well as inspecting finished parts using precision measuring tools. The technician will also be responsible for selecting and dressing grinding wheels and tooling, troubleshooting machining and dimensional issues, performing routine machine maintenance, and ensuring equipment operates properly. Maintaining quality standards, following safety procedures, supporting production goals, and keeping an organized work area are key aspects of this position.

Requirements

• 3+ years of surface grinding and precision machining experience
• Strong understanding of grinding processes, tooling, and materials
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• High school diploma or GED required
• Ability to read blueprints and work with tight tolerances
• Experience using precision measuring and inspection equipment
• Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
• Strong interpersonal, teaming, and problem-solving skills
• Work effectively with other members of Coherent Corp.

Nice To Haves

• CNC grinding experience is a plus
