Surface Designer Engineer

Revology CarsOrlando, FL

About The Position

The Surface Modeling Designer Engineer plays a key role in the development of visually compelling and technically robust product surfaces. This position focuses on delivering high-quality CAD surface models that meet aesthetic, functional, and manufacturing requirements while maintaining alignment with the brand's design language. The designer is responsible for producing detailed and accurate surface data using Rhino3D or other suitable CAD software, ensuring design concepts are successfully translated into functional and manufacturable parts. Attention to detail, surface continuity, and Class-A quality are essential to this role. The Surface Modeling Designer supports the full product development lifecycle, from early concept development through final production-ready surfaces, ensuring on-time delivery and design integrity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
  • Strong hands-on experience with Rhino3D, focused on surface modeling
  • Solid understanding of NURBS curves and surfaces, including G0, G1, and G2 continuity
  • Proven ability to create high-quality, fair surfaces
  • Experience modeling complex and organic geometries
  • Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes, including: Composite manufacturing, CNC machining process, Injection molding
  • Ability to convert design intent into manufacturable technical solutions
  • Portfolio demonstrating expertise in surface modeling and mechanical part design

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with SubD modeling in Rhino
  • Experience with Grasshopper (parametric modeling)
  • Experience integrating Rhino models with parametric CAD systems (preferably CATIA)
  • Prior experience in automotive product development
  • Experience with composite materials and composite part design
  • Basic knowledge of realistic rendering tools (KeyShot, V-Ray)
  • Familiarity with tolerances, GD&T, and engineering requirement

Responsibilities

  • Create and develop 3D surface models (Class A / freeform) and mechanical parts, with Rhino3D as the preferred CAD tool
  • Ensure high-quality surface continuity (G0, G1, G2), precise curvature control, and overall surface fairness
  • Develop complex and organic geometries suitable for automotive composite applications
  • Apply knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials, with an emphasis on composite materials
  • Translate sketches, design concepts, and visual references into accurate and production-ready 3D models
  • Prepare, validate, and release 3D CAD data for downstream activities, including detailed engineering, prototyping, tooling, and supplier handoff
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, manufacturing, and external suppliers
  • Review, refine, and iterate designs based on technical feasibility, manufacturing constraints, and aesthetic feedback
  • Maintain CAD modeling standards, data organization, and supporting technical documentation
  • Support and participate in periodic design and engineering reviews

Benefits

  • Competitive base salary
  • Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance
  • 80 hours of paid time off (PTO) annually
  • 80 hours of paid holiday
