About The Position

This role will start September 14th, 2026. Under limited supervision, performs in an accurate and timely manner technical and administrative tasks related to the processing of business correspondence. Supports strong customer focus by providing fast, courteous, high-quality service to our agents. This role will perform a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines, including routine selection, evaluation, and rating of the least complex risks, corresponding with licensed agents on decisions, identifying class codes and descriptions, calculating premiums, penalties, rates, and other using the rate manual and control file. It also involves selecting the correct classification of product/risk on bond submissions from the 8,000 surety products and the correct bond form from the library of 7,500 forms based upon the 50,000 obligees. The role requires identifying exception processing by obligee and agency/program preferences and applying rules accordingly. Data entry and file preparation of new business or notary business utilizing the BPST/HOD application, or completion of bond, policy, and related forms using a typewriter or data base application, or operating a PC to compile business correspondence are also key functions. The associate will effectively navigate multiple system applications to process business correspondence and be proficient in systems including ImageRight Workflow, Email Form Letters, and Outlook, as well as PC software including Surety Forms Generator, IVANS, Book Manager, Risk Scoring, and Credit Report. Cross-training in a variety of business types including cancellations, adjustments, renewals, notary, typing, word processing, and direct bill is expected. The role requires a thorough knowledge of business correspondence and the proper workflow path of each item (Transaction types, new biz, adjustment, renewal). Frequent professional communication with agents via telephone, fax or written correspondence is necessary. Participation in key account business relationships through processing, telephone contact with multiple internal and external groups such as clients, obligee contact, and underwriting contacts is also part of the role. Providing assistance and/or training to other Underwriting Associates as needed, and performing additional duties and project work as assigned are also responsibilities. This position typically reports to a Manager or above.

Responsibilities
