As a Lab Supervisor, you will play a key role in overseeing clinical operations and ensuring smooth day-to-day workflows. You'll jump in to support your team when staffing is tight, troubleshoot operational challenges, and help drive solutions that keep everything running seamlessly. Requirements

  • Associate degree in a related field
  • Five years laboratory experience within depth knowledge of laboratory operations
  • Certification by an acceptable laboratory registry as a MLT, MT, MLS, HT, HTL (as applicable)

  • Bachelor’s degree in laboratory science or a related field
  • Acceptable laboratory registry, if applicable for the department

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing clinical operations and ensuring smooth day-to-day workflows.
  • Supporting the team when staffing is tight.
  • Troubleshooting operational challenges.

  • Responsible for the daily operation of the assigned section to include, planning, organizing, and directing the activities of technical and non-technical personnel to ensure optimal, cost-effective delivery of services according to department standards of quality, productivity, and performance.
  • Serving as a resource to identify, investigate, resolve, and monitor concerns, acting as a liaison for all levels of staff and collaborating with managers to ensure uninterrupted workflow.
  • Performing various quantitative and qualitative clinical laboratory studies to comply with physician requests for analyses of blood, body fluids, and tissues, providing data for diagnosis and treatment of diseases.
  • Following established laboratory standards, practices, and procedures, and understanding and complying with department policies, procedures, and regulations, including Standards of Behavior.
  • Providing and understanding the specific communication needs of laboratory patients and families ranging from neonate-birth to geriatric.
  • Making decisions about sample collection and handling, performing testing of samples, and maintaining accurate records and reporting of test results with knowledge of abnormal, normal and critical values.
  • Performing instrument maintenance, troubleshooting, and quality control.
  • Withstanding the stress and demands of an active position while responding calmly and efficiently in crisis situations.
  • Working as a team member, demonstrating good interpersonal skills, following Standards of Behavior and communicating professionally with physicians, management, and staff.
  • Following established standards and practices to perform various quantitative and qualitative laboratory studies for diagnosis and treatment of disease.
  • Understanding and complying with SRHS System and Laboratory department policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Handling moderate chemical, biological, and/or low-level radiation exposure.
  • Possessing the critical thinking skills to make decisions and use appropriate judgment.
  • Maintaining accurate records and reporting of data.
  • Handling high stress situations while reacting appropriate with a calm and efficient demeanor.
  • Performing critical tasks within special pathogens lab (may be required).
  • Training new associates and students (may be required).
  • Passing a color vision test.
  • Performing Direct Observation per CMS guidelines.
  • Ensuring all associates complete the annual CAP competency requirements for respective area.
  • Maintaining in-depth technical knowledge in all areas of department and performing competently in all areas of responsibility.
  • Possessing a high level of mental acuity with special attention to detail.
  • Working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Modifying hours, due to departmental needs (may be required).
  • Holding team members accountable and supporting management with staffing concerns, staff scheduling, staff coaching/mentoring and disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Management reserves the right to modify, add, or remove duties as necessary.
