About The Position

Coordinates and supervises the daily activities of a support, production or operations team. Sets priorities for the team to ensure task completion. Decisions and problem-solving are guided by policies, procedures and business plan; receives guidance and oversight from manager. Accountable for the support or production operations team including subordinate work leaders. Typically does not spend more than 20% of one's time performing the work supervised.

Requirements

  • Effective leadership skills; able to envision, develop, direct, manage, delegate responsibility and authority and motivate employees
  • Strong working knowledge of metal working machinery and stamping presses. – Soft Tool and Hard Tool
  • Knowledge of Production Daikin System and Flexible Manufacturing System (in-house training /certification)
  • Good computer skills - MS Office Outlook, Excel
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Effective problem solving skills in a fast past manufacturing environment
  • Effective organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to apply good judgement, strong work ethics and integrity on the job
  • 5+ years in manufacturing environment, preferably in sheet metal/fabrication
  • 2+ years in a leadership role in a high volume manufacturing environment
  • HS diploma or GED, Associates degree preferred
  • PDS/FMS Certification – obtained through in-house training program

Responsibilities

  • Train, instruct, and supervise employees using established production methods to produce a quality product in a safe and timely manner to meet production demands.
  • Inspect each line and check the product is being run according to the specifications of the job; take corrective action to resolve problems.
  • Provide work assignments, procure parts, and communicate production demands to employees as well as perform quality and safety audits and generate maintenance requests.
  • Help to maintain the shifts safety and training programs to minimize accidents/injuries and to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Meet and or exceed company metrics including safety, quality, cost, and delivery.
  • Document and complete production reports, scrap tickets, accident reports, and discipline notices while promoting and enforcing company policies, safety rules and work instructions.
  • Utilize accurate measurement tools to track area key indices, to identify unfavorable trends, and to take corrective action.
  • Complete required systems work: Mapics, Kronos, Zone etc.
  • Proactively use Lean tools to improve operating efficiency, reduce costs, and improve quality and safety results.
  • Maintain high employee morale through good employee-management relations, team building and through knowledge of policies where applicable. Recognize and inform higher supervision of hourly employees' capabilities.
  • Participate in additional projects/activities to support ongoing business needs.
