About The Position

The Cowichan Valley Regional District is seeking a temporary summer Supported Child Care Worker III for the Shawnigan Lake Community Centre. This role involves providing personal care and supporting the integration of children aged three to five years old into playschool and community programs. The position may involve collaboration with external agencies to determine care requirements. The role is for a period of 9 weeks, from June 29, 2026, to August 28, 2026, with hours of work being 30-40 per week, Monday to Friday.

Requirements

  • Secondary school graduation plus college or university courses in Early Childhood Education and Behaviour Management, or training as a Teacher’s Aide, or in Child & Youth Care or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Three (3) years of experience providing personal care and behaviour management to fragile children aged three to five years old who require a high-level of supported child care.
  • First Aid Level I with CPR C certification/training.
  • Certification/training in relation to the child’s needs.

Nice To Haves

  • ECE Certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides personal care to children aged three to five years old.
  • Supports and facilitates the integration of the child into playschool and/or a community program.
  • May have a reporting relationship to an external agency.
  • May provide input to or participate on the team responsible for determining the child’s care requirements.
