About The Position

This is a Part-Time Classroom Support Worker 3 position located in Parkhill, ON. The role involves working with children and youth in an out-of-home emergency/urgency stabilisation setting. The Support Worker will focus on the educational needs of students in the on-site Section 23 classroom, track areas for improvement and achievement toward transition goals, and facilitate daily routines and programming. The position requires acting as an advocate for students, participating in team meetings, and maintaining open communication between school personnel and treatment staff. The Support Worker must provide a safe and supportive environment, remain calm in crises, and utilize effective de-escalation and decision-making skills. A commitment to working successfully with diverse groups and principles of equity, diversity, inclusion, and justice is essential.

Requirements

  • Completion of a post-secondary diploma in Child & Youth Worker (CYC) or Social Service Worker (SSW) - or an equivalent Human Services program.
  • Minimum two (2) years of related experience providing behaviour intervention support; knowledge of concurrent disorders and/or dual diagnoses and strategies for support
  • Reliable with a demonstrated commitment to being a dependable member of a team
  • Understanding of support requirements specific to the roles and responsibilities of the job
  • Proficiency in both verbal and written communication
  • Strong leadership, mentorship, advocacy, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills, in addition to attention to detail
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the team, and independently as necessary
  • Capacity to establish, implement, and maintain professional and personal boundaries
  • Valid Class G (full) Driver’s License with a 3-year Uncertified Driver Record
  • Satisfactory current (within the last 6 months) Broad Record Check
  • Physical Health assessment: verification of up-to-date immunisations, negative TB Skin test (within the last 6 months), COVID vaccination status (2 doses), and ability to meet the physical and psychological requirements of the position
  • Current Standard First Aid & CPR, Level C with AED training preferred

Responsibilities

Benefits

  • $28.67/ hour plus vacation pay
