About The Position

The Support Services Tech position at Fossil Rim Wildlife Center is responsible for the upkeep and improvement of the landscape, assisting with repairs and improvements (maintenance) across the entire Fossil Rim property and any other owned or leased properties. The role encompasses maintaining the 'infrastructure,' which includes all man-made elements above and below ground integral to Fossil Rim's operation. Landscape maintenance includes lawns, yards, planted areas, pastures, forage production, and natural resources for wildlife.

Requirements

Must be able to operate equipment normally associated with gardening and farming.
Must be able to understand and follow directions.
Capable of safely operating powered equipment.
Must be able to use hand tools such as hoes, rakes, and spades.
Must be able to use and maintain gas or electric powered tools and equipment such as mowers and tillers, electric clippers, edgers and chainsaws.
Will be required to maintain and repair tools and equipment.
Able to lift and carry 100 pounds
Be able to bend over
Ability to spend up to 2/3 of the workday standing/walking
Ability to work outside all day in weather ranging from extreme heat +100 degrees to extreme cold, below freezing and in wet conditions
Ability to drive and/or operate small maintenance equipment (ex. chainsaw, weed trimmer, mower, hand tools, truck and lawn tractor)
Ability to drive and operate farm and heavy equipment (ex. tractor, balers, road grater, etc)
Regular and dependable attendance is required
Be available for after-hours and weekend call out in emergencies

Forage production

Clean and maintain garden equipment
Provide basic support for the entire facility, including garbage removal, customer service, and patrolling roadways
Ensure compliance with Employee Handbook, Risk Management Plan, all other safety rules & procedures, the company vision, mission and goals
Assist when needed in Repairs & Improvements (maintenance)
Assist with maintaining hay fields
Pull a trailer safely
Carry out other duties as assigned by Support Services Managers
