About The Position

The Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery is seeking to hire a Support Service Coordinator I for the Elizabeth Packard Mental Health Center located in Springfield, Illinois. This role involves monitoring and directing grounds maintenance activities such as seeding, planting, and trimming of trees and shrubbery. The position also serves as a designated lead worker, directing sodding and minor earth grading for soil erosion control, and the improvement and maintenance of grounds and roadsides. Responsibilities include mowing and trimming lawns, weed control, snow and ice removal, and performing minor street repairs. Additionally, the role involves delivering drugs, food, and equipment to residential buildings and the Administration Building.

Requirements

  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of High School.
  • Requires two (2) years of experience, such as could be gained at the Support Service Provider level in one of the support service functional areas to which assigned.
  • Requires the ability to obtain and maintain an applicator/operator spray license within 90 days of employment.
  • Requires the ability to work after business hours, weekends and holidays.
  • Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
  • Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors and directs the seeding, planting, and trimming of trees and shrubbery.
  • Serves as designated lead worker.
  • Directs the removal of snow and ice from walks, porches, driveways and parking areas.
  • Directs the application of insecticides, pesticides and herbicides applicable to the grounds.
  • Coordinates the use of equipment such as lawn mowers, chain saws, tractors, etc.
  • Directs the movement of equipment here on grounds from one location to another.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.
