About The Position

Barnes Jewish Hospital is seeking a Supply Distribution Technician for our emergency department! This role is crucial for managing the supply chain within the hospital, ensuring that departments have the necessary materials while optimizing costs. The position involves daily management, receipt, and distribution of supplies, equipment, and linen. Key duties include maintaining organization and cleanliness of supply rooms and warehouses, providing customer service to hospital departments, managing inventory levels, ordering, receiving, and stocking materials, and assisting with recalls and investigations. The role also supports the training and development of new Supply Technicians. Responsibilities

  • Oversees daily management, receipt and distribution of materials (supplies, equipment and linen) for multiple departments throughout the hospital and/or network.
  • Performs supply room and warehouse cleaning and organization.
  • Provides department customer service.
  • Reviews item par levels and usage with department leadership.
  • Optimizes bin organization.
  • Manages material ordering, receiving and stocking.
  • Assists with manufacturer recall notifications/usage investigations.
  • Aids in training, mentoring and developing new Supply Technicians.
  • Understands lean supply philosophy, performs basic analytics using Microsoft products and other tools available through supply chain management systems.
  • Performs material receiving functions verifying correct items, quantities, processing receipts in the inventory management computer system, tagging/labeling and staging items for delivery.
  • Reviews reports, collaborates with department staff to adjust par levels, coordinate opportunities for improvement, implement and maintain the standardized community supply model.
  • Provides daily oversight of material functions while ensuring a safety focused environment complying with BJC, OSHA, Joint Commission standards and performs housekeeping functions in supply rooms.
  • Processes stock and non-stock orders in the inventory management systems, coordinates with procurement to resolve order issues, discrepancies, match exceptions, recalls and returns to vendor.
