About The Position

The Supplies Clerk works under the general direction of the Patient Care Manager and is responsible for researching, purchasing, stocking, maintaining inventory and tracking supplies utilized for patient care and supporting staff functions. Responsible for maintaining "PAR levels" (periodic automatic replenishment) to ensure clinical staff always have necessary items like PPE, syringes, and specialized medical equipment.

Requirements

  • Experience in supplies administration is highly preferred.
  • Able to type 25 WPM.
  • Familiar with Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Valid CA Driver License and car insurance.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for identifying appropriate vendors, keeping current on new products, purchasing, stocking and rotating medical supplies needed for patient care. New products are reviewed by supervisor prior to ordering.
  • Responsible for inventory management establishing, and maintaining, Periodic Automatic Replacement (PAR) levels for supplies by tracking stock levels and conducting regular item counts.
  • Responsible for cost-effective procurement of supplies through researching and placing orders with approved online vendors, comparing prices and shipping costs to ensure all purchases are made in a fiscally responsible manner and within the department’s budget constraints.
  • Responsible for validating recipient addresses and shipping methods to ensure supplies reach the correct destination within the required clinical timeframe (e.g., next-day or standard ground).
  • Responsible for annual count of central supply inventory.
  • Responsible for weekly checking of supplies for outdates. Rotating supplies to prevent waste related to expiration and removing and discarding or destroying outdated supplies.
  • Other duties as assigned, including working in other areas to cover absences or relief to equalize peak work periods or otherwise meet the needs of the organization.
  • Following Community Hospice & Health Services Policies and Procedures including, but not limited to, safety, infection control, privacy, confidentiality, and HIPAA.
