Supply Chain Tooling Engineer

Base Power CompanyAustin, TX
Onsite

About The Position

Base is America’s next-generation power company, focused on deploying a vast network of distributed batteries to transform the grid. We are seeking a versatile software engineer to build and scale internal tools and data infrastructure for our supply chain operations. This role involves owning platforms for supplier management, domestic content compliance, and production readiness systems. Embedded within the supply chain team, you will collaborate directly with planners, procurement, and operations leadership to understand workflows, eliminate bottlenecks, and deliver software that accelerates Base's progress. The work is critical for scaling battery manufacturing, qualifying for tax credits, and ensuring reliable energy delivery.

Requirements

  • 2+ years building production software (web apps, internal tools, or data platforms), ideally in supply chain, manufacturing, logistics, or ops tech.
  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, or similar languages, with experience in data modeling, pipelines, API integrations, and workflow automation.
  • Comfort with AWS or GCP, modern deployment practices, and observability tooling.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (Odoo a plus), low-code platforms like Retool, and internal APIs.
  • A track record of turning manual processes into scalable systems.
  • Highly organized and execution-oriented, with strong ownership and follow-through.
  • Experience in a tech-enabled operations environment (energy, logistics, or manufacturing) where software meets the physical world.
  • Experience with WMS/MES systems (NetSuite, SAP, Oracle) or building ops platforms at a high-growth startup.
  • AI/ML experience in forecasting, anomaly detection, or decision support; fluency with Claude or other AI coding assistants.

Responsibilities

  • Build and own a supply chain control tower, including multi-tier supplier visibility, clear-to-build detection, and real-time dashboards for production readiness and blocked orders.
  • Develop tax credit compliance systems for 48E domestic content and 45X FEOC verification, integrating EIN lookups, D&B ownership data, and regulatory watch lists.
  • Build procurement tooling for supplier performance tracking, RFQ/RFP automation, bid analysis, and contract management.
  • Own data pipelines pulling from ERP, supplier portals, and customs and shipping systems, with automated alerts for disruptions, quality issues, and compliance risks.
  • Calculate and surface financial exposure for WIP inventory, blocked production, and tax credit risk.
  • Work directly with planners, buyers, and ops managers to scope MVPs, deploy weekly, and iterate based on feedback.
  • Identify manual workflows across the supply chain team and build the tools to replace them.
