About The Position

Responsible for the functions of receiving, warehousing, and distribution for MDMC. Maintains inventory supplies for MDMC and for the various departments. This role involves accurate receiving, inspection, and distribution of incoming freight, managing in-town purchases, operating vehicles safely, stocking shelves, monitoring supply levels, and maintaining a clean and orderly work environment. The technician will also assist in other aspects of the SC/MM department as needed and maintain good public relations.

Requirements

  • High school graduate.
  • Class E driver’s license required.
  • Fork Lift Certification Required.
  • Ability to utilize PC required.
  • Computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to learn the various types of medical supplies and become familiar with their uses.
  • Minimum patient contact.
  • Electric forklift and certification required.
  • Delivery van.
  • Class E driver’s License required.
  • Computer/PC.
  • Labeling machine.
  • Hand held scanner.
  • Printers.
  • I-pads.
  • Standing: Entire day spent on feet, walking, standing and pushing of carts. Reaching and bending also done daily on a frequent basis.
  • Walking: Most of day spent walking warehouse retrieving supplies, rest of time spent walking, pushing carts and delivering supplies throughout hospital.
  • Lifting: Lift 50 lbs - job entails loading and unloading all freight and supplies on a frequent basis.
  • Visual: Must be able to read and write and accurately handle all documentation as required by the job.
  • Hearing: Ability to receive and understand phone calls.
  • Speaking: Must be able to communicate effectively as job brings them into contact with many people on a daily basis.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-2 years’ experience in Hospital setting preferred.
  • 1-2 years’ warehouse experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Accurate receiving of all incoming freight.
  • Inspection of all incoming freight, checking in freight, listing shortages and damages on Bills of Lading, packing slips and reporting these directly to the buyers in a timely manner.
  • Accurate distribution of incoming freight (on site and off site).
  • In-town purchases when needed.
  • Operates vehicles at a safe and cautious speed at all times. Reports problems per Hospital policy.
  • Constantly stocks shelves of warehouse, assuring JACO standards are met.
  • Alerting Warehouse Supervisor and/or Buyers when supplies are running low.
  • Keeping the storeroom, loading dock and other storage areas neat, clean and orderly at all times.
  • Assisting in other aspects of the SC/MM department when normal tasks are completed or when emergency situations arise.
  • Maintaining and assuring good public relations at all times.
  • Becoming aware of product changes and being able to explain the changes with other departments.
  • Handling various hazardous supplies (not radio-active) for various areas.
  • Daily contact with other departments, employees, etc.
  • Becoming familiar with the location of every department (on and off-site), to deliver supplies.
  • Assuring sufficient amounts of patient charge labels are on hand.
  • Accurately checking in all freight, receiving in the computer, scanning documents to respective PO.
  • Tracking the number of pieces of freight received on a daily basis.
  • Working with office staff on invoice discrepancies on a timely manner.
  • Accurately billing departments for all items issued and returned from the Main inventory.
  • Consistently rotating all incoming stock items.
  • Assisting with product recalls.
  • Assuring that no outdated supplies are within the inventory. Checking all aisles at the minimum monthly, and turning in outdate sheets to Director by the 27th of each month.
  • Utilizing good receiving, storage and distribution techniques.
  • Handling and storing sterile supplies in a manner to protect the integrity of the supplies.
  • Handling and delivering refrigerated items within 1 hour of their receipt.
  • Attaching proper patient charge labels to respective supplies.
  • Filling par cart and other non-stock orders on a timely manner.
  • Performing cycle counts as directed by Warehouse Supervisor/Buyer.
  • Turning in weekly cycle count sheets to Director.
  • Performing bi-yearly physical inventory (which may occur on weekends).
  • Being 'On Call' for the MM department, for 365 days per year, split between MM warehouse clerks and warehouse supervisor.
  • Keeping assigned aisles neat, organized and with no outdates.
  • Daily filing of packing slips and assuring that all stock freight is checked in, received and put in proper location within warehouse.
  • Assuring that all patient charge items are issued ONLY with patient charge stickers attached to them.
  • Keeping storeroom swept, trash cans emptied and aisles free of clutter.
  • Assuring that Hospital truck’s back door is kept shut at all times (unless with you are with the truck unloading). Truck is not to be driven with back door opened.
