About The Position

The Supply Chain Technician is responsible for various duties related to the management and distribution of supplies within the organization. This includes picking, packaging, and delivering supplies to requesting departments, restocking shelves, and managing inventory using FIFO and FEFO methods. The role also involves unloading and unpacking stock, operating material handling equipment, checking supply par levels, and participating in inventory counts. Additionally, the technician is responsible for collecting, cleaning, and delivering equipment, tracking rental equipment, transporting equipment to Biomed, and entering patient charges for supplies and equipment. Maintaining a clean and efficient work environment and practicing good customer service skills are essential. The role also includes providing patient and material transport and performing daily receiving, delivery, and returns.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Storeroom experience is preferred.
  • If driving a Mercy vehicle is required, applicant must have a driving record that is insurable under Mercyhealth’s insurance coverage guidelines.
  • Must have and maintain an acceptable driving record per Mercy’s HR-01 Fleet Safety Policy.
  • Position is subject to annual driving record background checks per Mercy’s HR-01 Fleet Safety Policy.
  • The Technician must maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Effective interpersonal/communication skills –Ability to work with internal customers in assessing their needs and the most appropriate solution.
  • Ability to effectively use applicable MMIS system – Ability to perform assigned tasks using a desk top computer or mobile device.

Responsibilities

  • Picks orders for departments requesting supplies.
  • Packages and delivers supplies to requesting departments.
  • Re-stocks shelves, trays, carts, etc. with incoming supplies.
  • Utilizes FIFO (First In, First-Out) and FEFO (First Expired, First Out) methods to rotate stock.
  • Unloads stock daily from the dock, confirming accuracy with delivery document.
  • Unpack stock and places on shelves in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Safely operate floor jacks (manual and battery) and forklift where appropriate.
  • Regularly check supply par levels, outdates and overstock, adjusting stock as needed.
  • Assists in determining appropriate floor unit PAR levels.
  • Participates in inventory counts.
  • Collects and cleans dirty equipment from floor units where appropriate, ensuring its readiness for use.
  • Delivers and sets up equipment for patient care areas where appropriate.
  • Returns equipment to appropriate location.
  • Tracks location of rental equipment and monitors its return to the vendor.
  • Transports equipment to Biomed when appropriate.
  • Enters patient charges for supplies and equipment where appropriate.
  • Verifies accuracy of all supply transactions within MMIS system.
  • Maintains a clean and efficient work environment free of hazards.
  • Consistently practices good customer service skills.
  • Answers telephones and intercom promptly and properly.
  • Provide patient and material transport.
  • Performs daily receiving, delivery and returns as directed.
