About The Position

The Supply Chain Technician serves as a member of the Material Management team supporting clinical staff in the annual planning, daily management, and ongoing monitoring of the medical supply expense budget. This role involves coordinating and providing supplies and equipment essential for patient care within the hospital. Competency is demonstrated by maintaining established supply chain metrics and effectively communicating critical supply chain information, such as supply and equipment availability. Strong communication skills are essential for all aspects of this role. This position upholds compliance and the Principles of Responsibility by maintaining privacy and confidentiality, protecting organizational assets, acting with integrity, reporting non-compliance, and adhering to all applicable laws, regulations, and Emory Healthcare policies and procedures. Requirements

  • High school or GED required.
  • Computer knowledge/skills required.
  • One year's experience in supply chain preferred.
  • Supply chain experience means experience establishing and managing par levels and storage closets (e.g. rotating stock, validating product recalls and expiration dates).
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with other departments to research and solve complex problems.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of medical/surgical services and supplies and inventory preferred.

  • Associate Degree in Business or Health Care related preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage medical supply stocking levels (PARs) within the assigned healthcare facility, including ancillary departments, ensuring supply cost per unit of service aligns with the clinical unit's budget. This includes making recommendations for par level adjustments and ordering appropriately.
  • Perform physical receipt of goods, validating shipments against packing slips for all deliveries (FedEx, UPS, USPS, capital equipment). Receive goods in the eProcurement system within 72 hours of physical delivery.
  • Coordinate deliveries and vendor-managed supplies (e.g., linen) with contracted suppliers.
  • Manage outstanding backorders and receipts by executing relevant queries in the procurement system daily or weekly.
  • Manage receiving discrepancies, communicating with Purchasing, Accounts Payable, and suppliers as needed. Manage returns to vendor (RTVs).
  • Manage healthcare-related equipment, entering required information into the appropriate tracking system and communicating with clinical engineering for timely maintenance and repair.
  • Deliver medical equipment and supplies to clinical supply closets. Rotate and stock products using a first-in, first-out model.
  • Oversee inventory management in clinical supply areas: organize supply areas, manage shelf life/expiring products, and remove unused supplies.
  • Manage inventory of code blue carts delivered to various units during a Medical Alert Code Blue.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support supply chain operations.
