About The Position

This role is responsible for managing the production schedule, communicating customer expectations, and ensuring timely shipments. The specialist will oversee material supply, understand demand by customer and SKU, utilize MRP reports, manage the material release process, confirm purchase orders, and process receipts using SAP. They will track supplier performance and develop unique inventory plans by category and customer. The position requires aligning and coordinating efforts with operations and production planning to ensure timely receipt of materials and adherence to production schedules. The role also involves negotiating purchase arrangements within budget limitations and identifying cost-effective acquisition methods.

Responsibilities

  • Manage production schedule and customer expectation communications.
  • Manage material supply, including understanding demand by customer and SKU, MRP reports, material release process, PO confirmations, and receipts using SAP.
  • Track supplier performance.
  • Develop and manage material inventory plans for assigned items.
  • Align and coordinate efforts with operations and production planning to ensure timely receipt of materials and meet production schedule timing.
  • Develop unique inventory plans by category and customer.
  • Ensure realization of department goals and objectives.
  • Execute and maintain functional best practices.
  • Negotiate arrangements for the purchase of goods or services within budget limitations.
  • Identify and execute cost-effective and efficient material acquisition methods.
  • Utilize SAP reports and data for efficient execution of functional responsibilities.
  • Enter and update production schedules in SAP, communicating changes as needed.
  • Run and analyze MRP, customer demand, sales forecasts, and historical material usage to develop forecasting plans.
  • Ensure timely receipt of products for customer orders to prevent downtime.
  • Meet internal and external customer expectations and requirements.
  • Assist the commercialization team in product development and trials.
  • Provide weekly/monthly detailed analyzed reports for customers.
  • Escort visitors for meetings, inspections, or product testing.
  • Communicate and coordinate shipments with the T&W department and customers.
  • Attend internal and external customer meetings to discuss upcoming schedules and potential shortages.
  • Build and support BOM structure.
  • Create and define items for BOM consumption.
  • Drive timely part setup, BOM releases, and BOM changes for new product introductions and existing product modifications.
  • Coordinate returns and/or replacement of products.
  • Facilitate and manage QN/NCMR completion and closure within 30 days, with full financial recovery within 60 days.
  • Collate purchase orders and requisitions, including RFQs, and track PO confirmations.
  • Resolve conflicts concerning materials or services at the department and supplier levels.
  • Negotiate procurement details with suppliers.
  • Seek new ideas from suppliers to reduce costs and ensure quality.
  • Maintain files related to purchase orders, suppliers, quotes, and correspondence.
  • Perform inventory reports and work with IC to understand accuracy.
  • Build strong relationships with qualified external suppliers.
  • Develop initiatives to reduce slow-moving, excess, and obsolete inventories and implement process improvements.
  • Identify and evaluate suppliers based on cost, cost savings, lead time, and service.
  • Initiate and maintain conference calls with customers as needed.
  • Manage product extension requests with customers or suppliers.
  • Monitor, update, and report on daily reports (Past Due, On Time Delivery, Shortages, etc.) and call out material losses.
  • Eliminate line downtime due to material availability and quality issues.
  • Coordinate efficient receipt and movement of materials with third-party warehouses.
  • Identify the optimal inventory levels for assigned materials.
  • Work with internal and external freight resources to ensure timely deliveries at competitive rates.
  • Manage inbound freight and freight claims.
  • Identify and drive best practices within the total supply chain, including supplier and supply-related metrics.
  • Coordinate supplier management programs with cross-functional HFS resources.
  • Track, report, and process quality performance issues for suppliers, working to eliminate supplier-related quality issues.
  • Ensure material quotes are up to date.
  • Perform cost card analyses and updates.
  • Negotiate prices with vendors and assist in preparing contract documents.
  • Participate in quotes or utilize SIE IQO for SAP system updates.
