About The Position

The Supply Chain Specialist-Perioperative is responsible for the overall periodic inventory management plan, including par levels, restocking plans, inventory accuracy, and required documentation. This role facilitates clear and timely communication of supply needs between clinical areas and Supply Chain, utilizing data to ensure an effective stocking plan. The specialist investigates inventory discrepancies, coordinates department product changes, and monitors for expired and obsolete products. They also coordinate product transfers, physically stock and pick supplies, and communicate product delays. This position assists in developing and implementing process changes, applying Supply Chain standards, and providing project support. Additionally, the specialist aids in the development, collection, and reporting of supply-related Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and assists with managing consignment and vendor-managed products. They attend clinical department meetings, participate in Value Analysis and product review committees, and prioritize patient and care team needs. Communication is expected to be courteous and professional, utilizing information technology tools effectively. The role requires maintaining knowledge of OSHA, Joint Commission, and other regulatory requirements, ensuring Supply Chain equipment is in good working order, and performing other assigned duties.

Requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors degree in related field
  • 2 Years of acute care supply or clinical experience
  • Experience in MMIS (Materials Management Information System) software
  • CPIM (Certified in Planning & Inventory Management) or other related certification
  • Lean/Six Sigma Green Belt
  • Certified Materials & Resource Professional (CMRP)

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the overall periodic inventory management plan, including par levels, restocking plans, inventory accuracy, and required documentation.
  • Facilitates clear and timely communication of supply needs between clinical area(s) and Supply Chain.
  • Utilizes data to ensure an effective stocking plan.
  • Investigates inventory discrepancies and takes appropriate corrective action.
  • Coordinates department product changes.
  • Monitors for expired & obsolete products, rotating, removing, and documenting identified items.
  • Coordinates product transfers with other areas across the health system.
  • Physically stocks, processes returns and picks supplies as needed.
  • Communicates product delays & substitutes in a timely and effective manner.
  • Assists with the development and implementation of process changes to support efficient, safe, and effective product management.
  • Consistently applies Supply Chain standards and best practices.
  • Provides guidance and support for projects as assigned.
  • Assists in the development, collection, and reporting of supply related Key Performance Indicator (KPIs).
  • Assists with the management of consignment and vendor-managed products as needed.
  • Attends clinical department meetings and huddles as needed.
  • Participates in Value Analysis and product review committees as needed.
  • Prioritizes the needs of the patient and care team.
  • Communicates in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Utilizes information technology tools to ensure capabilities are optimized.
