Supply Chain Science & Technology Lead (Reagents)

RocheIndianapolis, IN
$125,700 - $233,500Onsite

About The Position

The Supply Chain Science & Technology Lead (Reagents) drives competitive advantage by embedding scientific rigor and technical innovation into our global reagent operations. This role ensures that complex biochemical products are "Designed for Distribution"—optimized for stability, global regulatory compliance, and seamless scalability. As the technical authority for reagent supply chain integration, you bridge the gap between R&D and global commercialization, ensuring that life-saving diagnostic chemistry remains robust through every link of the end-to-end (E2E) supply chain. Every day, you strive to lead by example, so that when your team members engage with you, they see a leader who consistently demonstrates our values of Integrity, Courage, and Passion.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Chemistry, Pharmacy, or Chemical Engineering.
  • 8+ years of leadership in a highly regulated industry (Diagnostics, Pharma, or Biotech), with a clear understanding of the technical interface between Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain.
  • Deep expertise in reagent life cycles, including product development, stability testing, and the management of hazardous materials (Dangerous Goods).
  • Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional leadership by consistently role modeling Roche Values, as well as actively demonstrating capabilities and behaviors specific to Roche Leadership Framework (Leadership Commitments, Creative Leadership, VACC) and Operating Principles.
  • Strong strategic and operational decision-making with a proven ability to lead and drive global projects in a complex, culturally diverse and dynamic environment through a strong solution-oriented approach along with a strong ability to coach others to do the same.

Nice To Haves

  • An advanced degree (Master’s, Ph.D., or MBA) is highly preferred due to the technical nature of the role.

Responsibilities

  • Build trust through transparent communication and scientific integrity.
  • Constructively challenge technical assumptions to foster open dialogue and transform complex reagent constraints into logistical opportunities.
  • Lead and empower a team of experts to unlock potential in the fields of supply chain science, cold chain technology, and process engineering.
  • Analyze the complex interplay between chemical stability, environmental factors, and global logistics to craft integrated solutions for future readiness.
  • Embed technical supply chain requirements early in the Product Life Cycle (PLC).
  • Work with R&D to ensure reagent formulations and primary packaging are optimized for global movement and temperature stability.
  • Oversee the integration of complex reagent constraints, including Dangerous Goods (DG) classifications, Global Trade Compliance, and environmental restrictions (e.g., REACH/RoHS).
  • Lead the design and validation of temperature-controlled logistics strategies to prevent post-launch delays and ensure product efficacy from manufacturing to the laboratory.
  • Define physical and environmental requirements (stability data, secondary packaging, humidity control) to maximize shipping density and minimize the global carbon footprint of temperature-controlled shipments.
  • Build collaborative relationships with R&D, Manufacturing, and Quality to ensure technical alignment and execution across the E2E supply chain.
  • Identify and lead opportunities for technical process optimization and efficiency gains, particularly by applying Lean process design to reagent handling and storage.
  • Drive the adoption of new technologies—such as advanced sensors, sustainable packaging materials, or digital stability tracking—to balance cost efficiency with entrepreneurial thinking.
  • Ensure manufacturing processes are technically ready for global scale, managing the transition of new reagent technologies from pilot scale to high-volume commercial production.
