About The Position

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a Supply Chain Project Engineer for its Strategic Procurement & Planning Division (SPPD). This role will lead key supply chain capacity and agility projects, implement capacity planning processes, and partner with internal functions and external stakeholders to implement integrated supply chain solutions. The engineer will provide technical process support for component production value streams, implement enterprise capacity requirements, collaborate with Product Groups on capacity needs, drive process improvement initiatives, and support facility-level capacity modeling. This is a high-impact role focused on turning complex supply chain data into actionable insights to improve efficiency, cost, and operational performance, with opportunities to shape supply chain decision-making strategies.

Requirements

  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to identify root causes, evaluate tradeoffs, and perform cost-benefit and risk analysis to guide decisions.
  • Project Management: Ability to plan, organize, and manage projects, including risk identification, resource planning, and stakeholder communication.
  • Supply Chain Management – Manufacturing: Understanding of supply chain processes, tools, and integration points to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Supplier Management – Manufacturing: Ability to support supplier relationships, resolve issues, and ensure delivery and quality expectations are met.
  • Cross-Team Integration: Ability to collaborate across functions and align stakeholders to achieve business results.
  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Ability to structure problems, assess alternatives, and support informed decision-making.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated in a manufacturing or supply chain functional role, leadership role or project leadership role.
  • Proficiency in capacity planning, efficiency modeling, or throughput optimization tools (e.g., efficiency calculators or simulation tools).
  • Proven ability to lead or contribute to cross-functional supply chain or operations improvement projects.
  • Strong stakeholder communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across engineering, procurement, logistics, and operations teams.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, define, and implement integrated supply chain capacity and agility solutions and performance improvements.
  • Work collaboratively cross functionally with product groups, digital teams, and facilities on projects and solutions.
  • Analyze data to prioritize opportunities that improve supply chain performance and efficiency.
  • Provide technical guidance and support for key component capacity and agility plans.
  • Lead specific facility and product group supply chain engineering engagements focus on capacity and agility.
  • Drive initiatives in partnership with the Digital Development Team to accelerate execution and scalability.
