About The Position

The role is responsible for the leadership and optimization of staffing, systems, and processes for inventories, purchasing, production planning, receiving, shipping, and stockroom control. The goal is to ensure timely and cost-effective availability of products and the achievement of Key Performance Indicators such as On Time Delivery, Purchase Price Variance, Inventory $, Inventory Turns, and Customer Satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in operations, business, or related field; or equivalent education and experience.
  • 5+ years applicable work experience in a role of increasing responsibility in a manufacturing environment.
  • Planning, purchasing, and inventory control management/supervisory experience required.
  • Working knowledge of MRP/ERP systems required.
  • Must be a highly organized individual, self-motivated, and able to work independently.
  • High level of initiative and strong work ethic.
  • Must have very strong leadership skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Solid decision-making skills.
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks and/or priorities and easily adapt to changing situations.
  • Experience managing and improving supply chain data, information, and processes.
  • Actively seek to improve all aspects of the supply chain by streamlining steps and locating the best prices for inventory.
  • Previous experience with Supply Chain Management and S&OP is essential.
  • Excellent communication skills required.

Nice To Haves

  • Purchasing (CPM) or Materials management (APICS) certification a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the leadership, direction, and supervision of Purchasing and Planning.
  • Responsible for performing and training all phases of material sourcing, including vendor identification, selection, qualification, and material planning and analysis.
  • Plan annual production material sourcing, purchase contracting, and supplier alliances while providing required material to meet volume and customer delivery commitments.
  • Accountable for the development of material requirement plans from sales forecasts and orders for initiation and scheduling of purchases from outside vendors, as well as production capacity planning, including scheduling of all shipments to customers.
  • Monitor delivery performance and quality of purchased material and develop cost control and improvement plans.
  • Accountable for internal communication of customer order status to ensure timely and satisfactory resolution of product delivery and availability problems.
  • Participate in safety, loss prevention, Lean manufacturing activities, and various site and corporate cost reduction activities.
  • Serve as the tactical lead and process champion for the S&OP process.
  • Identify and guide opportunities for VMI and pull systems to control inventory levels.
  • Recommend and implement risk mitigation for eliminating excess and obsolete inventory.
  • Negotiate and manage kanban, consignment, or supply agreements with suppliers.
  • Negotiate vendor contracts for best price/best value and other terms and conditions in support of the corporate business plan.
  • Manage (in conjunction with production) actions and continuous improvement in the Cycle Count program to drive inventory accuracy.
  • Develop asset reclamation strategies for inventory, scrap, and/or equipment.
  • Establish, forecast, and measure targets for inventory levels and reductions.
  • Create, track, and provide planning and supply chain KPIs.
