About The Position

The Supply Chain Intern is designed to expose you to various aspects of Electric Machinery’s supply chain, including procurement, logistics, and inventory management. You will work closely and learn from our experienced supply chain professionals, contributing to ongoing projects, gaining understanding and valuable insights into the end-to-end supply chain process of Electric Machinery’s operations. Supply Chain Interns will collaborate with all departments at Electric Machinery and perform functions and tasks in support of functional areas including Sourcing, Procurement, and Inventory Control. There will be project-oriented assignments where a manager is assigned for your support, growth, and development, and evaluation/feedback. Interns will identify and present a final project at the end of their internship to illustrate how the Intern contributed value to Electric Machinery.

Requirements

  • >3.0 cumulative overall GPA or better (on a 4.0 scale).
  • Currently a full-time student, junior status or higher pursuing a Bachelor's in Supply Chain/Operations Management, Finance, or related business discipline.
  • Must have completed the "core" coursework for chosen discipline.
  • Proficient in basic computer programs/business software: Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Resourceful and innovative in finding solutions to ambiguous problems.
  • Self-starter with ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
  • Strong motivation, initiative, work ethic and ability to work in teams and individually without direct supervision.
  • Demonstrated initiative and a results-oriented mindset.

  • Prior work on projects in a team environment (relevant academic projects and/or previous internship experience).
  • Knowledge of SAP, LEAN or Continuous Improvement practices.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with all departments at Electric Machinery.
  • Perform functions and tasks in support of functional areas including Sourcing, Procurement, and Inventory Control.
  • Undertake project-oriented assignments with assigned manager support for growth and development.
  • Identify and present a final project at the end of the internship.
  • Lead a high-visibility project focused on the financial and operational optimization of inventory to improve inventory turnover.
  • Analyze slow-moving inventory, identify root causes of obsolescence, and propose data-driven strategies to improve cash flow and warehouse efficiency.
  • Audit and redefine Safety Stock levels and Reorder Points (ROP) within the ERP system.
  • Quantify the "Carrying Cost" of current inventory and the projected savings of proposed reductions.
  • Perform other activities required by the Purchasing Manager.
