About The Position

The Category Business provides analytical, process, and execution support across Category Management activities through data analysis, performance reporting, process governance, and continuous improvement initiatives. The role partners closely with Category Managers and business stakeholders to support sourcing, contracting, supplier performance management, and commercial execution. Business Analysts are expected to build category expertise and progressively assume ownership of defined projects, sourcing events, and supplier interactions as part of a developmental pathway toward future Category Manager roles. Relocation will be considered for this position. This position is based in San Antonio, TX, but candidates in Findlay will be considered as the other possible location for this position. This role may support multiple Category Analyst openings across the Supply Chain Category Management teams. While the Hiring Manager listed on this posting is leading the recruitment process, the selected candidate may ultimately report to a different leader within the organization based on team structure, business priorities, and organizational alignment.

Requirements

  • Foundational Commercial Acumen: Demonstrates a basic understanding of contracting principles, commercial terms, sourcing processes, and supplier negotiations.
  • Analytical Capability: Ability to analyze spend data, supplier performance metrics, pricing, cost models and market intelligence to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Project Management: Manages multiple priorities and supports execution of category initiatives, sourcing events, and contract activities.
  • Proficient in SAP, Ariba, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint; experience with Power BI, Power Apps, and PowerAdvocate preferred.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to continuous learning, professional development, and increasing responsibility within Category Management.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Two (2) or more years of Supply Chain or business relevant experience, such as Engineering, Category Management, Commercial, Contract Management, or related experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Marketing, Engineering, Business, Science, or related discipline preferred.
  • Experience in Materials, Equipment, and/or Services supporting Refining and/or Midstream operations is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Category Management reporting, dashboards, and performance metrics. Transforms data into actionable insights that support decision-making, measure category performance, track value delivery, identify risks, and improve visibility into supplier and business outcomes.
  • Supports the development and execution of category strategies by gathering, organizing, and analyzing internal and external data. Evaluates spend, supplier performance, market trends, business requirements, and initiative outcomes to help Category Managers prioritize opportunities, validate assumptions, and align category plans with business objectives.
  • Supports execution of Category Management processes by maintaining process documentation, governance requirements, templates, and reporting standards.
  • Monitors supplier performance metrics and analyzes operational, commercial, and compliance data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities. Supports supplier performance management through insight generation, performance reviews, and corrective action tracking.
  • Collaborates with internal stakeholders to understand business needs, support category initiatives, communicate progress, and ensure alignment between Category Management activities and operational objectives.
  • Supports contract lifecycle activities, including contract request coordination, documentation management, milestone tracking, stakeholder reviews, and contract renewals. Partners with Category Managers and Contracts Advisors to enable efficient contract execution and administration.
  • Partners with Category Managers during sourcing events, supplier evaluations, negotiations, and commercial initiatives by compiling data, performing analyses, coordinating project activities, and tracking results.
