About The Position

The Supply Chain Buyer aligns closely with the Purchasing Manager, Operations, Scheduling, Supply Chain Manager and Inside Sales team in the areas of Purchasing and Vendor Management. The Supply Chain Buyer is focused on Exceeding Customer Expectations in support of the overall goals, objectives, mission and vision of the organization.

Requirements

  • Intermediate math and numeric aptitude required
  • Intermediate level of experience in Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point
  • Ability to prioritize, multitask and work in a very fast paced environment
  • Expertise in ERP and/or MRP systems
  • Proven team player and a sharp focus on customer service and satisfaction
  • Ability to successfully work both collaboratively and autonomously
  • A high level of trustworthiness and the ability to achieve integrity on all levels
  • Solid problem-solving ability
  • Detail orientated
  • 2-year degree or equivalent experience in materials management or related field
  • 3-5 years of experience in purchasing and/or procuring raw materials

Nice To Haves

  • APICS certification beneficial
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment beneficial
  • Forecasting/planning experience beneficial

Responsibilities

  • Analyze system data for raw materials, corrugate and packaging to create purchase orders for materials in support of production needs
  • Process purchase order and acknowledgements
  • Manage vendor delivery and fall outs
  • Work with sales and scheduling to expedite pull in of orders and the material availability
  • Maintain a sharp focus on inventory levels as well as reducing excess inventory
  • Manage supplier base to ensure supply of materials meets current and future production needs
  • Participate in Supply Chain projects and initiatives
  • Establish and foster solid working relationships with outside vendors
  • Obtain and maintain vendor pricing, availability and delivery
  • Create and maintain work instructions and standard operating procedures
  • Update and maintain raw material planning parameters (Safety Stock, MOQ)
  • Participate in meetings (inventory, vendor, management review, supply chain team)
  • Proactively identify risk to the supply chain, supply, cost and lead times and raise concerns to Manager
  • Participate in near miss program and provide recommendations
  • Create and drive improvements in the Supply Chain
  • Continuous improvement, lean manufacturing & 5S abilities to grow department
  • Problem solving analytical skill set needed to perform job daily
  • Prepare and distribute daily, weekly, and monthly reports and critical trackers
  • Analyze and provide solutions to expedite and escalation requests from Inside Sales
  • Input data in a timely and accurate manner and facilitate reporting within IQMS
  • Supports a culture where employees address unsafe conditions and behaviors, make suggestions for improvements, and actively participates in implementing solutions
  • Identifies safety gaps and self-initiates corrective actions
  • Strictly adheres to plant safety, housekeeping, and 5S efforts
  • Understands, identifies, and corrects safety hazards
  • Drives a culture which empowers employees to understand and embrace what they own
  • Monitors and verifies activities to ensure that finished goods and raw materials are coming in and out of the facility meet consumer safety and quality standards.
  • Complies with all company food safety and quality assurance procedures
  • Reports any product or process failures that could impact food safety of manufactured products to the location’s Food Safety Team Leader and submits an appropriate incident report
