About The Position

The Large Power Systems Division in Lafayette, IN currently has an opening for a Supplier Quality Technician. In this role you will be responsible for providing assembly and machine shop quality support for suspected nonconforming material; accomplished through the inspection and documentation of engine components. You will compare the non-conforming part to the Caterpillar print, applicable quality standard and document any variations as it relates to the form, fit, and/or function of the part. Upon discovery of a nonconformance, you will document the discrepancy, provide visual proof of the nonconformance, reference the applicable quality standard, and draft a system alert which is communicated back to internal support teams along with the supplier. In addition, you may also be responsible for ensuring that discrepant materials are quarantined in a timely manner. Other activities include processing dealer returned material, performing correlation audits with suppliers, and rework nonconforming material to support operations.

Requirements

  • Attached Resume with experience with: Gaging
  • Quality Blueprint Reading
  • GD&T
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite)

  • Possess problem solving skills to assist in Root Cause Corrective Actions (RCCA).
  • Knowledge of engines & engine components

Responsibilities

  • Providing assembly and machine shop quality support for suspected nonconforming material.
  • Inspecting and documenting engine components.
  • Comparing non-conforming parts to Caterpillar prints and applicable quality standards.

  • Documenting discrepancies, providing visual proof, referencing applicable quality standards, and drafting system alerts.
  • Communicating non-conformances to internal support teams and suppliers.
  • Ensuring discrepant materials are quarantined in a timely manner.
  • Processing dealer returned material.
  • Performing correlation audits with suppliers.
  • Reworking nonconforming material to support operations.
  • Reacting to operations line calls for problematic parts.
  • Reading Caterpillar prints.
  • Understanding GD&T.
  • Communicating non-conformances.
  • Troubleshooting issues with parts.
  • Utilizing gages to check part conformance.
