About The Position

The Supplier Quality Technician will be responsible for ensuring the quality of products supplied by vendors. This role involves performing various quality control tasks, collaborating with suppliers and internal teams to resolve quality issues, and maintaining documentation. The technician will also be involved in process improvement projects and ensuring compliance with company policies and safety regulations.

Requirements

  • Knows and complies with departmental, site, and company policies and procedures including the proper wear and use of required personal protective equipment.
  • Participates in improvement projects; uses common problem solving techniques while working alone or in teams.
  • Communicates effectively with the assigned team, support teams, engineering and management.
  • Maintains housekeeping and safety in work areas.
  • Remains flexible and performs other miscellaneous duties and business needs, as required, to get the job done.
  • Completes work with minimal supervision.
  • Operates within team-based work system and rotates job routine as needed.
  • Communicates technical information to Internal/ External customers, Materials Group and Suppliers regarding projects and quality related issues.
  • Participates in training and personal development; assists in training department personnel and apprentices.
  • Understands and applies appropriate company and department rules and guidelines to work.
  • Perform rework, scrap transactions, external rework transactions, and generate NCMRs and other appropriate reports.
  • Actively work with suppliers and coordinate with purchasing personnel and others to improve quality.
  • Highlight and write process documentation and make updates as appropriate, to stay current with product and process changes.
  • Collect, analyze and display out of process data. When problems arise, engage in formal leadership of 7-step problem-solving process.
  • Take appropriate actions to protect the customers (ie: lead sort actions, establish interim containment actions). Collect data related to quality problems and lead quality corrective action teams.
  • Communicate with all levels of management when necessary and the assigned team and all support teams.
  • Work with engineering and skilled trades as needed for defect prevention and problem resolution.
  • Quality system knowledge required.
  • 1st point of contact for production support.
  • Lead Supplier, Customer or Manufacturing quality issues to closure using recognized problem solving techniques 7 Step or A3.
  • Standard of documentation must be of adequate quality to provide to.
  • Prioritize work of Quality Associates, 3rd Party Screening companies and suppliers on site at CEP.
  • Line audits and over checks.
  • Populating quality paperwork.
  • Raising FIRGs, MNCs, CARs and SCARs.
  • Direct communication to suppliers, customers and other functions as required – including but not limited to email, phone and face to face.
  • Basic measurement of parts as required.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and good understanding of GD&T.
  • Lead PFMEA and Control plan activities.
  • User knowledge of statistical process control.
  • User knowledge of precision measurement, blueprint interpretation and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • User knowledge of shop math, including trigonometry.
  • User knowledge of Microsoft Office (ability to develop PowerPoint presentations, use of Excel for data collection and graphics, and Word for technical report writing).
