Supplier Quality Technical Leader- Mechanical

GE VernovaGreenville, NC
Onsite

About The Position

As the Supplier Quality Technical Leader (Mechanical) for our drive, bearing, and fastener commodities, you will serve as the primary technical authority for the supplier quality function of this team and driving the team to proactive Supplier Performance Engineering. You will act as the "Architect of Quality," defining standard work, validating measurement protocols, and governing the technical maturity of our supply base. You will provide the technical authority required to ensure our suppliers can scale with our NPI (New Product Introduction) pipeline while ensuring every process is validated, frozen, and digitally integrated into the GE Vernova systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Metallurgical, or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Supplier Quality, Process Engineering, or Manufacturing Quality within a high-precision, industrial environment (Wind, Automotive, or Aerospace).
  • Deep commodity expertise in Drives, Bearings, or High-Strength Fasteners, including related "Special Processes" (Heat Treatment, Machining, Surface Coating).
  • Mastery of Core Quality Tools: APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, SPC, and MSA (ANOVA/Type 1).
  • Demonstrated history of driving complex Root Cause Analysis (8D/3L5W) and delivering systemic process improvements.
  • Ability and willingness to travel globally (up to 40%) for critical process audits and technical interventions.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to influence Engineering and Sourcing leadership on technical feasibility, even when facing significant schedule/commercial pressure.
  • Experience in implementing digital quality solutions and data-driven process monitoring at external supplier sites.
  • A passion for building Standard Work that is simple, scalable, and impossible to bypass; ability to see the "Big Picture" of the entire value chain.
  • Proven ability to mentor SQE teams and coach suppliers through complex maturity transformations.
  • Strong situational leadership skills; ability to remain calm and decisive during high-pressure quality escalations (e.g., line-stop situations).

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary technical gatekeeper for NPI and production readiness.
  • Validate design-to-process assumptions and exercise the mandate to pause or stop NPI gates when process capability (Cpk) or measurement systems (MSA) are not fully proven.
  • Design and implement commodity-specific standard work for APQP, PPAP, and process audits.
  • Ensure these standards are scalable and consistently applied across global supplier sites and SQEs.
  • Enforce "Frozen Process" protocols for mechanical commodities.
  • Ensure all manufacturing, assembly, and inspection parameters are technically validated, documented, and strictly controlled against unauthorized deviation.
  • Own the resolution of systemic non-conformances (NCRs).
  • Underwrite the rigor of supplier 8D/3L5W processes, ensuring root cause analysis drives permanent, preventative process changes rather than temporary containment.
  • Drive a culture of "Supplier Ownership."
  • Transition our supply base from reactive compliance to autonomous risk management by coaching and certifying suppliers to lead their own PFMEA and risk-mitigation efforts.
  • Serve as a senior technical resource to actively support the SQE team during peak workload periods or critical NPI launches.
  • This includes performing hands-on PPAP validations, executing process audits, and providing direct technical execution on high-risk commodities to ensure project timelines and quality standards are met.
