About The Position

This is a hands-on position focused on the American Battery Solutions (“ABS”) supplier selection, evaluation, and management of components development. The Senior Quality Engineer (SQE) is responsible for ensuring the Supplier Quality Management System is developed to supply ABS with high-quality components. This ensures effective resolutions of supplier non-conformances by performing root cause analysis and collaborating with suppliers to implement corrective actions that prevent recurrence and maintain quality standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience managing a certified quality management system (e.g., TS 16949, ISO).
  • Minimum of four (4) years of a proven track record of driving continuous quality improvement in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong mechanical or electrical aptitude, including an intuitive understanding of mechanical processes.
  • Experience in the automotive industry; Battery, Electronics, or Powertrain manufacturing preferred.
  • Previous work experience in an organization that supplied large Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).
  • Demonstrated experience in customer quality assurance, including issue resolution and customer interaction.
  • Proven experience conducting internal and/or external audits.

Responsibilities

  • Review engineering and manufacturing specifications to identify materials needed for product assembly for all manufactured goods.
  • Contact vendors and liaise between product engineers, manufacturing personnel, and suppliers to negotiate contracts to secure required materials for the production floor.
  • Conduct supplier quality control audits to ensure vendors and their supplies remain in compliance with company and federal manufacturing and production standards.
  • Communicate with vendors regularly to address any concerns and foster an environment that facilitates continual improvement in working relationships.
  • Understand and interpret all manufacturing audits, including ISO 9001 and other industry standards.
  • Maintain a supplier scorecard and include performance evaluations and quality control audits in the database for in-house access by company and manufacturing management personnel.
  • Assist with logistics, including communications with vendors when there are packaging and receiving issues when materials arrive at receiving dock.
  • Driving supplier quality performance, including new product development and product quality improvement on new program launches.
  • Providing leadership and management for supplier quality and purchasing department.
  • Assist with overseeing supplier quality team and establishing quality control objectives.
  • Manage nonconforming supplier material isolation, disposition, and corrective action implementation.
  • Promoting initiatives to improve quality.
  • Adhere to federal and state regulations.
  • Adhere to all company policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
