About The Position

Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity for a Supplier Quality Engineer to join our dynamic team in Huntsville, AL. This role involves integrating contractual and Boeing Quality Management System requirements into proposals and program processes, interpreting requirements, developing quality metrics and certification plans, and conducting capability assessments and process validations to support supplier selection. The engineer will participate in reviews to ensure quality attributes are incorporated into product designs, assist in developing new standards for non-conformances, analyze non-conformance trends, and perform analysis, tests, and process audits to ensure manufacturing and test readiness. The role also involves recommending corrective actions, performing benchmarking, and applying advanced Supplier Quality prevention tools like APQP, Lean, and Six Sigma. For the Senior Level, the role includes leading these activities for large programs, developing quality criteria, and working under minimal direction.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in the defense or aerospace industry
  • Experience presenting technical briefings to various audiences
  • 3+ years RCCA experience
  • 3+ years of experience leading or managing projects and/or teams
  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • Must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. To meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with AS9100 and/or similar QMS standard
  • Certified Quality Manager or Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) Certifications
  • 3+ years of experience working closely with other engineering disciplines in an integrated team environment
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing quality assurance or supplier quality related roles

Responsibilities

  • Represents Quality function on team activities to integrate contractual and Boeing Quality Management System requirements into all aspects of proposals and program processes and documentation.
  • Provides Quality interpretation of requirements.
  • Develops quality metrics, design and production certification plans for small programs to ensure compliance with contractual, Company and regulatory requirements.
  • Conducts capability assessments and process validations to support supplier selection activities.
  • Participates in various reviews to ensure quality attributes are incorporated into product designs.
  • Assists in development of new standards repairs for non-conformances.
  • Analyzes non-conformance trends to evaluate effectiveness of corrective actions.
  • Performs analysis, tests and process audits to ensure manufacturing and test readiness.
  • Recommends corrective actions to address non-conformances.
  • Performs benchmarking and other forms of analysis to ensure specified processes capability levels are achieved.
  • Apply advanced Supplier Quality prevention tools including Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Lean and Six Sigma.
  • Lead cross-functional Requirements Reviews and Capability Assessments at BDS suppliers.
  • Assist with the evaluation of new technology and manufacturing process deployment readiness at suppliers.
  • Perform special capability approvals to ensure technical readiness, capability and supplier process controls are established.
  • Leads integration of contractual and Boeing Quality Management System requirements into all aspects of proposals and program processes and documentation.
  • Provides interpretation of complex requirements.
  • Develops quality metrics, design and production certification plans for large programs to ensure compliance with contractual, Company and regulatory requirements.
  • Develops Quality criteria to support supplier selection activities.
  • Leads various reviews to ensure quality attributes are incorporated into product designs.
  • Develops and selects methods for analysis, testing and audit to ensure manufacturing and test readiness.
  • Develops and implements corrective actions.
  • Performs benchmarking and other forms of advanced analysis to ensure specified processes capability levels are achieved.
