About The Position

The Supplier Quality Engineer will regularly engage with manufacturing plants and distribution facilities to resolve supply disruptions. This role involves utilizing plant quality data to monitor disruptions, drive root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions using the 8D process. The engineer will manage and improve quality for electrical and mechanical commodities, including molded plastics, engines, hydraulics, castings, and metal fabrication. Responsibilities also include conducting new supplier assessments to provide input on sourcing decisions, evaluating capabilities regarding quality management systems, capacity, and technology. Supplier visits will be conducted for metrics/corrective action reviews, process and capability assessments, and strengthening supplier relationships. The role requires training suppliers and holding them accountable to Tennant's supplier manual and expectations. Additionally, the engineer will provide data-driven recommendations to the supply chain organization regarding supplier performance (grow, hold steady, retract, or re-source) and partner with Tennant engineering to assist with problematic designs and influence new designs. Continuous improvement projects (A3) will be driven by analyzing plant disruptions, PPM, and warranty data using the PDCA cycle. The engineer will lead open issues meetings (internal and external) to resolve quality concerns on electrical components and evaluate material and process changes with the supply base to mitigate risk to Tennant through deviation/engineering changes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering discipline
  • 3 years’ minimum experience in supply and/or quality within an engineering or manufacturing environment
  • MS Office, SAP or related ERP experience
  • Ability to read / interpret engineering drawings, requirements and specifications
  • Experience working with one or more of the following commodities: Molded plastics, engines, hydraulics, castings, or metal fabrication
  • Results oriented with a positive attitude
