The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for working with suppliers, engineering, quality, operations, and supply chain to select qualified suppliers and enhance supplier performance and capability, ensuring a positive impact on quality on both new and existing products. This role involves managing, monitoring, and improving supplier performance, researching and cultivating new vendors, and managing non-conforming products until resolution. The engineer will act as a subject matter expert on supplier product knowledge, capability, and capacity, and will conduct onsite visits to assess these aspects and promote best practices. A key part of the role includes understanding receiving inspection processes, component measuring techniques, and drawing specifications, as well as promoting and implementing improvements among suppliers. Training and knowledge transfer to suppliers to enhance quality and processes are also essential. The position requires analyzing supplier performance metrics, implementing improvement plans, and generating reports on supplier metrics and scorecards. Data analysis based on trends and performance is expected, along with acting as a technical resource on supplier product requirements, manufacturing processes, and quality standards. Daily interaction with various departments to resolve supplier quality challenges and working with suppliers to improve their performance are critical.
