About The Position

We are looking for an Experienced Supplier Quality Engineer to join our Pittsburgh (Cheswick) location. Curtiss-Wright EMD is searching for Supplier Quality Engineers to support its Quality Team in the design and manufacture of EMD’s highly engineered products. Since 1952 Curtiss Wright EMD has been integral to the US Navy’s nuclear propulsion program. You will play an important role by helping to implement the quality assurance program to support design, and manufacture ensuring product standards. Due to the nature of the position some travel is expected at approximately 25%. EMD a business unit of Curtiss-Wright in Cheswick, PA designs, manufactures, tests, and provides after-market support for the most advanced, proven and reliable critical function pumps, motors, generators, seals, control rod drive mechanisms and power conditioning electronics available anywhere in the world today. Curtiss-Wright EMD has a long-standing and distinguished reputation for the design, development, manufacture, and qualification of critical-function machining solutions for the United States Navy and the commercial nuclear utility industry.

Requirements

  • Due to DoD requirements, candidates must be US citizens.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain DoD Security clearances and approvals.
  • BS in Engineering or related technical or sciences degree
  • Self-starter, capable of working independently to drive actions to completion.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in a manufacturing setting

Nice To Haves

  • Auditing experience
  • Six Sigma Yellow Belt / Green Belt certifications is desired
  • Ability to read and understand Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T - ASME Y14.5 Standard)

Responsibilities

  • Lead in the translation of customer or regulatory requirements into supplier instructions
  • Develop supplier oversight activities to ensure that requirements are met
  • Present analysis of supplier performance data and trends
  • Lead root cause analysis efforts and drive implementation of corrective actions
  • Drive continuous improvement within the quality management system
  • Identify and resolve potential project or supplier quality issues
  • Participate in the creation or maintenance of quality program manual procedures
  • Review, evaluate, and respond to customer and supplier correspondences
  • Provide technical support to Inspectors, Project teams and Sourcing
  • Mentor less senior Supplier Quality Engineers
  • Perform external, internal, process and supplier audits.
