About The Position

Supplier Quality Engineer (SQ-SW) Build and maintain a supplier quality system for large aluminum and steel electro-mechanical assemblies, including plastic injection moldings. Ensure supplier and customer contract requirements are met while facilitating supplier compliance with APQP tools (e.g., FAI, PPAP, PFMEAs, control plans) within ISO 9001, and solar industry framework. Collaborate with suppliers to develop and implement best practices for defect prevention, reduction in variation/waste, and continuous improvement. Implement vendor auditing to create an approved vendor list, including quality systems, statistical capability, destructive and non-destructive testing/inspection, configuration management, lot acceptance, and continuous improvement. Develop and implement an effective system for communication, rapid containment, root-cause corrective action, and continuous improvement. Help suppliers optimize process yields and reduce defects escapes and delivery disruptions. Provide effective cascade down of contract review for quality assurance specifications and adherence. Work closely with suppliers to proactively mitigate disruptions and maintain strong working relationships. Facilitate a sustainable and robust quality management system across critical suppliers. Advance the use of the Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma tools (e.g., 5S, Standard Work, TPM, Kaizen events, etc.). Minimize supplier quality costs and maximize customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Industrial and Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
  • Will accept a Bachelor’s degree plus three years’ related experience in lieu of a Master’s degree.
  • Job located in Albuquerque, NM (up to 25% domestic travel required); 40 hours per week.
