About The Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) offers a world-class engineering environment with advanced technologies. The company invents technologies, products, and services to help service members, intelligence analysts, and first responders keep the nation safe. GDMS provides premium systems, services, and products for the Department of Defense, government agencies, and commercial clients, specializing in technology insertion, acoustic sensors, signal processing, combat systems, torpedoes, cyber security, knowledge management, and electronic warfare. The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is responsible for ensuring supplier-delivered products and services meet GDMS quality standards, and provides quality support to the manufacturing floor as needed.

Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or a related Science, Technology or Mathematics field
  • 2+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree and 6 months of job-related experience
  • Department of Defense Secret security clearance is obtainable within a reasonable amount of time after hire
  • Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information
  • U.S. citizenship is required
  • 3+ years of supplier quality or manufacturing quality experience
  • Proficiency in reviewing engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions for conformance to requirements
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001, GD&T, and quality management systems
  • Experience managing supplier documentation, FAIRs, and quality plans

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.)
  • Six Sigma or CQE certification
  • Background in defense or aerospace manufacturing

Responsibilities

  • Evaluating, qualifying, and monitoring suppliers for compliance with quality requirements
  • Conducting supplier audits, assessments, and corrective action follow-ups
  • Managing supplier nonconformances and driving root cause/corrective action (RCCA)
  • Supporting nonconformance disposition and MRB activities on the manufacturing floor
  • Participating in first article inspections and production readiness reviews
