Supplier Quality Engineer - New Grad

Cerebras Systems•Sunnyvale, CA

About The Position

Cerebras Systems is seeking a 2026 new college graduate to support supplier quality for components, printed circuit board assemblies, subassemblies, and system-level products. The engineer will work with experienced Supplier Quality Engineers and collaborate with Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Reliability Engineering, Operations, Strategic Sourcing, and suppliers. The role involves reviewing supplier quality documentation, monitoring supplier performance, investigating manufacturing issues, and helping prepare suppliers for new-product introduction and production. With increased technical knowledge and experience, the engineer will take on greater ownership of First Article Inspection reviews, routine supplier corrective actions, supplier-performance analysis, and qualification activities. Complex, high-risk, and business-critical decisions will be made in partnership with senior Supplier Quality team members.

Requirements

  • 2026 new graduate available for an immediate start.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical field, completed or expected before the position's start date.
  • Zero to two years of relevant experience; internships, co-op assignments, research, laboratory work, and hands-on engineering projects are valued.
  • Foundational understanding of manufacturing, inspection, quality engineering, statistics, and structured problem-solving.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications, with foundational knowledge of tolerances and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Familiarity with First Article Inspection and quality tools such as statistical process control, Cp/Cpk, measurement-system analysis, process failure mode and effects analysis, control plans, 8D, and 5 Whys through coursework, internships, or project experience.
  • Exposure to one or more relevant manufacturing processes, such as printed circuit board assembly, cables, machining, sheet metal, plastics, or system assembly.
  • Proficiency with Excel or similar tools for organizing, analyzing, and presenting quality data.
  • Familiarity with, or ability to learn, Product Lifecycle Management and quality-management systems, including document control, revision control, engineering changes, approval workflows, and configuration traceability.
  • Ability to evaluate technical evidence, distinguish facts from assumptions, document findings accurately, and communicate risks clearly.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, curiosity, initiative, and willingness to learn from experienced engineers and manufacturing partners.
  • Ability to work effectively across internal engineering and operations teams and with external suppliers.
  • Willingness to travel to domestic and international supplier sites as needed for assessments, production support, training, and issue resolution.

Nice To Haves

  • Internship, co-op, project, or research experience in supplier quality, manufacturing, hardware development, quality engineering, or operations.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, AS9100, Advanced Product Quality Planning, Production Part Approval Process, or another relevant quality standard or product-qualification framework.
  • Hands-on participation in an engineering organization or project such as Formula SAE, robotics, aerospace, electronics, or a university manufacturing laboratory.

Responsibilities

  • Review First Article Inspection packages against engineering drawings, specifications, dimensional results, and material and process certifications; identify gaps and, after training, approve packages within assigned authority.
  • Maintain First Article, supplier-qualification, audit, and quality records in Product Lifecycle Management and quality-management systems, following document, revision, and change-control practices.
  • Monitor supplier scorecards and quality trends, including defects, parts per million, supplier escapes, audit findings, repeat nonconformances, and corrective-action aging; summarize risks and escalate adverse trends.
  • Issue and manage routine Supplier Corrective Action Requests; review supplier containment and 8D responses, track commitments and due dates, and help verify corrective-action effectiveness using objective evidence.
  • Support new-supplier assessments and qualification activities, including reviews of technical capability, quality systems, manufacturing controls, inspection methods, traceability, capacity, and risk.
  • Participate in supplier quality-system and manufacturing-process audits, document observations, track assigned corrective actions, and help drive findings to closure.
  • Support supplier readiness for new-product-introduction and pilot builds by reviewing inspection plans, process flows, process failure mode and effects analyses, control plans, measurement methods, and capability data where applicable.
  • Assist with incoming-quality issues, nonconformance investigations, material disposition, deviations, supplier change notifications, and changes involving processes, tooling, manufacturing sites, or sub-tier suppliers.
  • Use structured problem-solving methods such as 8D, 5 Whys, and fishbone analysis to investigate supplier and manufacturing-quality issues.
  • Work with Engineering, Operations, Strategic Sourcing, and suppliers to communicate requirements, resolve quality issues, and drive assigned actions to closure.
