Requirements

  • BS degree in Engineering field required.
  • 2-4 years related experience required (Quality Engineering preferred).
  • Must be a US Citizen or a US Permanent Resident.
  • Knowledge of and experience with precision machining.
  • A thorough understanding of use and application of statistical quality assurance methods is required.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and present information to team members, top management and suppliers.
  • Ability to effectively apply continuous improvement principles and techniques to quality and manufacturing functions.
  • Ability to use standard business software applications and/or specialized data analysis tools.
  • This position is subject to meeting U.S. export compliance and/or U.S. Government contracting citizenship eligibility requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Review and provide input for supplier selection activities including supplier evaluation and quality systems audits.
  • Coordinate supplier process capability programs for new components, processes, assemblies or purchased finished goods.
  • Devise and implement methods and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision, reliability and accuracy of products and processes of suppliers.
  • Ensure that project and/or process control documentation is compliant with requirements and/or contracts.
  • Coordinate with customers and suppliers relating to quality performance, trends, and corrective action.
  • Verify compliance and effectiveness of the quality system by performing supplier audits and surveys.
  • Initiate programs to improve supplier performance.
  • Lead supplier development activities geared towards increased implementation of Dock-to-Stock and replenishment programs.
  • Work with suppliers to refine and enhance products and processes by applying continuous improvement and key lean manufacturing/production principles and techniques to assure quality of goods and services provided.
  • Be responsible for ensuring that nonconforming material is dispositioned in a timely manner, in addition to analyzing defect trends in order to initiate appropriate corrective action.
  • Be responsible for the specification and validation of inspection tools and gages for suppliers.
  • Integral participant in all design reviews; review and approve all Supplier Quality Requirement Plans (SQR’s) and develop follow-up plans after implementation.
  • Perform Quality Systems and Process Audits of current suppliers including reporting, follow-up and closure of non-conformances.
  • Handle process improvements at supplier facilities.
