About The Position

This position requires up to 80% travel to supplier locations. Candidate preferred location is Northeast US. Remote position. The role involves taking the lead in Supplier Quality Rescue Projects, driving issue resolution, action plans, and strategic supplier improvement. The engineer will collaborate with the team in Brazil to ensure supplier quality targets are met by conducting on-site supplier audits and visits, investigating quality problems, implementing sustainable solutions, and providing regular progress updates to Top Management. The goal is to elevate aerospace quality.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in engineering.
  • Strong understanding of quality management principles and problem-solving methodologies (Six Sigma, 8D, FMEA, MSA, SPC).
  • Experience leading problem-solving projects in operations, supplier management, or development environments.
  • Ability to set up and coordinate supplier problem-solving programs.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project).
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, publications, and reliability analyses.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
  • Analytical, process-oriented thinking with a proactive and assertive approach.
  • Conflict management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Willingness to travel internationally, including long-term assignments.
  • Ability to work in a safe professional manner adhering to all regulatory requirements including OSHA, EPA, State and Federal regulations.
  • Subject to ITAR/EAR which requires U.S. person status, or the ability to obtain a DSP5. U.S. person is defined as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. ‘Green Card Holder’) Asylee, or Refugee.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Risk Assessment during selection process for new Suppliers.
  • Provide onboarding training to our suppliers (e.g., for relevant tools).
  • Conduct supplier (quality system and product) audits, risk assessments, and technical visits to ensure quality standards.
  • Manage supplier performance (e.g., F4G) and foster continuous improvement.
  • Request further measures to ensure the supplier’s quality and schedule goals are met (e.g., stock re-inspections, visits and audit methods to sub-tiers to guarantee quality, Lean assessments and P3E to production processes).
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions while managing non-conformance processes and supplier blocks.
  • Ensure the execution of the concession management process.
  • Support the handling of quality requirements, product design and supply chain as well as process changes.
  • Monitor supplier performance and drive Lean initiatives.
  • Work closely with cross-functional Embraer teams and suppliers to resolve issues, enhance integration, and deliver executive updates.
  • Maintain QM info record and control plans in SAP up to date.
  • Provide regular written and verbal reports to all partners and Top Management based upon data and implementation plans.
