About The Position

The focus of this position is to proactively plan and direct activities concerned with development, application, and maintenance of quality standards for manufacturing processes, materials, and products. The Supplier Quality Engineer plays a vital role in driving continuous improvement within our supply base, mitigating risks, and ensuring that all purchased parts meet stringent aerospace industry standards. This role involves working closely with internal stakeholders (engineering, procurement, manufacturing) and external suppliers to establish and maintain robust quality systems that deliver defect-free parts and on-time delivery. The position may have supervisory duties, including assigning work or overseeing the work product of less experienced team members, but excludes direct management responsibilities such as performance management and disciplinary actions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering in related discipline and minimum 3 to 5 years directly related experience required and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Working knowledge of special processes, manufacturing methods, metallurgy, design and documentation
  • Strong drafting skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work within a team
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, and sampling theory.
  • Basic mainframe computer systems and familiar with Spreadsheet and Word Processing software.
  • Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Employee is occasionally required to sit; regularly required to walk and/or stand, and to speak and listen.
  • The employee requires eye-hand coordination, repetitive hand movement and manual dexterity use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
  • The employee must occasionally bend, reach to shoulder level and lift, carrying, pushing and/or pulling up to 30 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Hearing level within normal/average range.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud to moderate.
  • Compliance with company and governmental safety, environmental and hazardous materials regulations and procedures.
  • Employee will be required to wear personal safety equipment such as safety glasses, hearing protection, and proper footwear in specified areas.

Responsibilities

  • Working closely with internal stakeholders (engineering, procurement, manufacturing) and external suppliers to establish and maintain robust quality systems that deliver defect-free parts and on-time delivery
  • Establish and manage supplier quality metrics, utilizing data analysis to identify trends and opportunities for continuous improvement in supplier performance
  • Managing and resolving internal and external non-conformances, including the implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
  • Supporting the development and implementation of supplier improvement and control plans
  • Reviewing and approving supplier documentation (e.g., APQP, PPAP submissions, control plans, FMEAs)
  • Supporting the development and implementation of new product introductions (NPI)
  • Interface with business units, cross-functional groups and suppliers on support tasks related to Quality & OTD, FA (Failure Analysis), RCCA (Root Cause Analysis / Corrective Actions and Preventive Actions)
  • Establish and drive process performance and controls (SPC) reviews at Supplier
  • Conduct thorough assessments and audits of supplier capabilities, quality systems, and processes to ensure compliance with established standards and regulations
  • Oversee the qualification process for new suppliers, evaluating their technical capabilities, manufacturing processes, and quality systems to ensure alignment with stringent quality expectations
  • Play a pivotal role in product realization by participating in critical drawing reviews, readiness assessments, and ensuring suppliers are aligned with requirements
  • Apply advanced quality methodologies such as SPC, Six Sigma, lean manufacturing, and provide guidance on interpreting intricate engineering specifications
  • Demonstrate exceptional communication skills, interacting professionally with internal and external stakeholders, including effective communication with senior management
  • Travel as needed (up to 25%)

  • Participate in the development and promotion of the HSE culture

  • Participate, upon request, in analyses (of risks, incidents) and HSE working groups related to his/her professional scope
  • Be familiar with the main health and safety risks and the main environmental impacts relating to the scope of his/her work
  • Be familiar with the site's HSE policy and objectives
  • To be able to make proposals for improving working conditions and limiting environmental impact
