The Supplier Quality Engineer I plays a key role in supporting the Crane Supplier Quality Management Strategy by working under direct supervision and following established procedures. This position is responsible for implementing supplier quality improvement and monitoring processes to enhance supplier performance, product quality, and business qualifications with Crane.

Requirements

  • 0-2 years of related experience
  • Working knowledge of the marketplace and manufacturing technologies
  • Familiarity with supplier qualification processes and supplier performance metrics
  • Knowledge of the latest quality science tools including, FMEA, GR&R, Control plans, Capability study and reduction of variations
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models
  • Exposure to lean concepts (Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen Leadership, 5S, etc)
  • Understands fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of assigned product or program
  • Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within the field
  • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
  • Effective and consistent decision making skills
  • Ability to work multiple problems/issues simultaneously
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Demonstrated ability to perform and produce results in multifunctional teams in a dynamic work environment
  • BA or BS degree in technical discipline
  • This position may require access to Controlled Data or Information. Where the position requires such access only US Persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a Supplier Scorecard to monitor supplier quality, delivery, and other performance metrics.
  • Support supplier Quarterly Business Reviews by assessing supplier performance, monitoring corrective action status, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with site Quality teams and suppliers to address quality issues, ensuring corrective actions are effectively managed and root cause analyses are conducted.
  • Conduct assessments of suppliers’ quality systems and process control capabilities, driving the implementation of improvement plans.
  • Assist the Supply Chain organization in identifying and evaluating new sources of supply as needed.
  • Regularly review the open Corrective Action Request (CAR) database, follow up with suppliers on closure, track status changes, and generate monthly status reports for management.
  • Implement quality control plans for assigned commodities and conduct first article and first batch audit inspections.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor or management.
  • Prepare management reports and presentations on quality status and supplier performance.
  • Support the Material Review Board (MRB).
  • Stay informed about industry trends and new approaches to quality management that could benefit the business unit.
