About The Position

Allegion is seeking an Electronics Supplier Quality Engineer, ideally located in Carmel, IN. This role focuses on new supplier audits and onboarding, managing supplier relationships, maintaining and developing performance within Allegion’s electronics commodities, supporting New Product Development, and enhancing supplier-related quality processes across the Americas supply base and business units. The engineer will manage global suppliers in electronics commodities (PCBAs, motors, wire harnesses), drive supplier KPIs (SPPM and on-time supplier 8D closure rate), and support both commodity management's strategic vision and manufacturing's production needs. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, or related field required; Master’s preferred
  • 3-5 years of Quality Engineering experience in increasing responsibility in the areas of electronics Quality, Supplier Quality, Supplier Management or related field, including at least 2 years of direct manufacturing / in plant experience
  • Demonstrated program management experience and in-depth process improvement and problem solving experience (including expertise with tools and processes such as APQP, Lean, Six Sigma, PPAP, 8D, FMEA, VAVE, etc.)
  • Solid understanding of Quality Management Systems ISO-9001/TS-16949
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products and statistical software
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interact and influence in a matrix organization with an international exposure
  • Active knowledge about electronics manufacturing is required
  • Understanding of GD&T required
  • Ability to travel 50% - 75%

Responsibilities

  • Executing On Site Assessments at supplier locations to evaluate the capability of the supplier’s processes to produce and deliver parts that meet Allegion’s requirements.
  • Onboarding new suppliers to ensure they understand Allegion’s production expectations.
  • Supporting NPD programs, driving collaboration and alignment between design engineering and suppliers.
  • Ensuring suppliers are prepared to submit appropriate PPAP documentation for first submission approval and launch manufacturing processes for Allegion parts / products with a strong yield.
  • Driving standard quality processes across Allegion’s business units and supply base, including basic problem solving, PPAP, supplier 8Ds, and Gauge R and R.
  • Working with Suppliers, Commodity Management, Procurement, Sustaining and NPD Engineering and Operations to establish and implement strategic and comprehensive supplier quality activities aligned to business objectives and customer expectations.
  • Ensuring quality KPI’s are improved / maintained.
  • Understanding and supporting commodity management’s strategic initiatives.
  • Fostering solid working relationships between suppliers and Allegion’s manufacturing locations.
  • Conducting On-Site Assessments in support of new sourcing / supplier plant moves to evaluate the capability of the supplier’s processes to produce and deliver a part that meets customer requirements.
  • Independently operating at supplier locations, cooperatively working to identify root cause and develop and implement corrective actions in a timely manner.
  • Providing quality details required to support source selection and supplier rationalization initiatives.
  • Providing Suppliers with technical oversight and expertise in areas such as Process Development through Capability Studies, FMEA, Measurement Systems Analysis, Control Plans, Error Proofing, etc.
  • Supporting Allegion NPD programs as assigned, leading Characteristic Reviews with Suppliers and Engineering.
  • Driving discussions on traceability, appropriate packaging, Allegion’s supplier tooling database documentation, Safe Launch Plans, Launch Readiness and Run-at-Rate as applicable.
  • Driving on-time PPAP and Flawless Launch for responsible components.
  • Working in conjunction with Plant QE and Suppliers in 8D problem solving, leading cross-functional teams on major issues resolution at Supplier locations and driving supplier 8Ds to on-time closure.
  • Supporting training of internal staff along with other functions on Supplier Quality processes, tools, procedures and work instructions.
