About The Position

Today Astranis satellites provide dedicated, secure networks to highly-sophisticated customers across the globe – large enterprises, sovereign governments, and the US military. With five satellites on orbit and many more set to launch soon, the company is servicing a backlog of more than $1 billion of commercial contracts. Astranis is the preferred satellite communications partner for buyers with stringent requirements for uptime, data security, network visibility, and customization. Astranis designs, builds, and operates its satellites out of its 153,000 sq. ft. headquarters in Northern California, USA. Associate positions typically last for twelve weeks, and are salaried roles designed for students who have already received a bachelor's degree (or who will have done so before working at Astranis). The Supplier Quality Engineering Associate will work on solving quality issues with suppliers, implement new processes and support the daily operations of the team. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, supply chain, or a similar discipline
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve complex problems
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in manufacturing.
  • Experience with quality management systems.
  • Experience with inspection methods, metrology, and instrumentation.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and data sheets.

Responsibilities

  • Drive failure mode and root cause analyses, and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Design quality requirements and specifications.
  • Outline inspection and testing plans, and define re-processing and repair methods.
  • Monitor suppliers' performance and purchased parts' status, and communicate status to management.
  • Support manufacturing process development at supplier sites.
