About The Position

The Marathon Electric Sourcing Team is responsible for managing the selection and performance of suppliers that provide production materials and components to our manufacturing facilities located in the United States, Mexico, and Canada. Our global supply base provides many different components, including castings, metal stampings, shafts, rolled steel frames, bearings, and coatings. We are looking for an experienced Supplier Quality & Development Engineer to join our team. Job Summary: The Supplier Quality & Development Engineer (SQDE) will play a critical role in ensuring the quality of products sourced from suppliers. This position is responsible for supplier qualification and audit, supplier quality tracking, managing supplier non-conforming materials including disposition and corrective actions, and implementing improvement plans at the supplier level. The SQDE will also be part of a team that will develop and implement a supplier scorecard process to monitor, communicate, and improve supplier performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in supplier quality engineering, quality assurance, or a related field, with a focus on supplier development and management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in quality management tools and methodologies.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and quality management software.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree preferred.
  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Six Sigma, or other relevant certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive supplier qualification and audit process to evaluate new suppliers and monitor existing suppliers.
  • Monitor and evaluate supplier performance through tracking and analysis of supplier defects.
  • In conjunction with plant quality and finance teams, manage the disposition process for defective items, including recovery of “cost of poor quality”.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to develop and implement corrective action plans and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and implement a supplier scorecard process to summarize and communicate supplier performance, including quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Work closely with internal teams, including procurement, engineering, and manufacturing, to address supplier quality issues and support new product development.
  • Maintain accurate records of supplier quality performance, corrective actions, and improvement plans. Prepare regular reports for management review.
  • Provide training and support to suppliers and the Marathon team on quality standards, processes, and best practices.
  • Review and approve Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) submissions from suppliers to ensure compliance with quality and engineering specifications.
