About The Position

PGS Worldwide is seeking a Supplier Manufacturing Engineer in El Segundo, California for a one-year onsite contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company. This position will oversee the design, procurement, fabrication, and commissioning of specialized aerospace tooling produced by external manufacturing suppliers. The engineer will serve as a primary technical liaison between internal engineering teams and suppliers, driving manufacturing execution, supplier quality, and delivery of composite and metallic tooling.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 4–7 years of relevant engineering or manufacturing experience.
  • Experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment.
  • CNC machining knowledge or experience.
  • Knowledge of composite manufacturing applications and tooling.
  • Strong knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Technical writing and documentation experience, including development of Statements of Work (SOWs).
  • Experience with 3D CAD software.
  • Experience evaluating manufacturing processes, supplier capabilities, and technical requirements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and related Microsoft Office applications.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.

  • Advanced degree in an engineering discipline.
  • Hands-on composites experience.
  • Supplier audit or supplier capability assessment experience.
  • Root cause analysis training or experience.
  • Lean Manufacturing experience or certification.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the end-to-end design, procurement, fabrication, and commissioning of specialized composite and metallic tooling.
  • Work directly with manufacturing suppliers to ensure tooling meets aerospace specifications, schedule, quality, and cost requirements.
  • Serve as the technical liaison between engineering teams, procurement, program management, supplier management, and manufacturing partners.
  • Develop supplier Statements of Work defining technical, contractual, manufacturing, and quality requirements.
  • Evaluate supplier manufacturing capabilities and performance.
  • Support management and periodic review of approved tooling suppliers.
  • Manage supplier waiver, deviation, discrepancy, and tool deviation requests through established quality processes.
  • Investigate supplier nonconformances, performance trends, and manufacturing failures.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Coordinate source inspections and other supplier quality activities.
  • Review manufacturing Certificates of Conformance and verify end-item data packages are complete before shipment.
  • Use supplier performance databases and quality-system assessment tools to evaluate supplier capability and performance.
  • Provide hands-on technical support for CNC machining, composite tooling, metallic tooling, and other manufacturing processes.
