About The Position

HL Mando America Corporation is offering Supplier Development Engineer positions in Opelika, AL. The role involves performing parts and supplier development for new components of new vehicle programs, adhering to the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process. Responsibilities include evaluating and selecting potential suppliers through Process and System Audits (PSA) and Initial Risk Assessments (IRA). The engineer will assist with supplier readiness by participating in Gate Reviews and ensuring compliance with product launch schedule phases. Key activities include Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) tasks such as PPAP Run Audit, PPAP Approval, and Run @ Rate Audit to verify suppliers’ mass production capability. The role also supports Engineering Process Change (EPC) management, tracking supplier modifications, and conducting Supplier Process Audits (SPA) and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Assessments. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential for reviewing supplier 4M (Man, Machine, Material, Method) plans and ensuring adherence to quality and development targets. Continuous improvement support will be provided to suppliers through quality reviews, corrective action plans, and capacity verifications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or foreign equivalent degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 1 year of experience working in supplier development or supplier quality in the automotive manufacturing environment.
  • 1 year of experience performing Production Part Approval Processes (PPAP) Run Audits.
  • 1 year of experience in PPAP Approvals.
  • 1 year of experience in Run @ Rate Audits.
  • 1 year of experience in Engineering Process Change (EPC) management.
  • 1 year of experience in Supplier Process Audits (SPA).
  • 1 year of experience in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Assessments for suppliers.

Responsibilities

  • Perform parts and supplier development for new components of new vehicle programs based on the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process.
  • Evaluate and select potential suppliers by conducting Process and System Audits (PSA) and Initial Risk Assessments (IRA).
  • Assist with supplier readiness by participating in Gate Reviews and ensuring compliance with each phase of the product launch schedule.
  • Perform Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) activities, including PPAP Run Audit, PPAP Approval, and Run @ Rate Audit, to confirm suppliers’ mass production capability.
  • Support Engineering Process Change (EPC) management and track any supplier process or design modifications to maintain consistent product quality.
  • Conduct Supplier Process Audits (SPA) and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Assessments to ensure supplier compliance with internal and external standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to review supplier 4M (Man, Machine, Material, Method) plans and ensure adherence to quality and development timing targets.
  • Provide technical guidance and continuous improvement support to suppliers through quality reviews, corrective action plans, and capacity verifications.
