About The Position

The Supplier Development Engineer is responsible for identifying new suppliers and developing, maintaining, and improving the supplier base for Electric Machinery. They are also responsible for communicating and delivering the technical requirements to the supplier to ensure fully conforming and efficient products are supplied to manufacturing at a competitive cost without detriment to delivery or final product performance.

Requirements

  • BS degree (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial/Manufacturing or Materials Engineer) from a four-year college or university, and 5 years related experience in manufacturing required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years manufacturing process knowledge required.
  • Experience with Quality Control knowledge, PFMEA, 6Sigma, 8D report required.
  • Proven ability to communicate and interact effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated strong work ethic and always maintains professionalism with ability to meet deadlines.
  • Must possess and demonstrate exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to self-start, results-oriented, flexible, and team player.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking or problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to negotiate skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Proactive; can-do attitude.
  • Must possess a valid Passport.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with drawings interpretation and reading preferred.
  • Experience with Suppliers Audit evaluation following ISO 9001 standards preferred.
  • Knowledge of SAP plus.

Responsibilities

  • Creates incoming material inspection plans.
  • Analyses materials with deviation and creates QL note for related areas to give final decision.
  • Analyses suppliers performance and coordinate and follow up vendor quality improvement plan.
  • Audits main vendors using ISO 9001 standard and WEG quality control standards (WEG Quality Assessment).
  • Supports suppliers and coordinate technical discussions between WEG engineering and vendor.
  • Ensures suppliers manufacturing process comply with WEG requirements.
  • Ensures supplier is doing all necessary tests for related order.
  • Creates market research in USA, and abroad and ensure WEG is buying from competitive supplier.
  • Develops new suppliers, following WEG suppliers developed standards and regulations.
  • Evaluates supply chain strategies, considering supplier location and logistics, risk involved and price.
  • Develops new materials/parts, which were never manufactured before.
  • Other duties may be assigned by Purchasing Manager to meet business needs.
