Peerless Pump, an Indianapolis based division of Grundfos, is seeking an experienced Supplier Development Engineer to join its Quality Assurance/Supplier team. The Supplier Development Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality components and materials, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and mitigate risks in the supply chain. This position reports directly to the Quality Manager and will operate based out of the Indianapolis, IN facility. Relocation for this position cannot be supported and qualified candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based visa sponsorship now or in the future. Sponsorship is not available for applicants for US Work visa status for this opportunity (no sponsorship is available for H-1B, L-1, TN, O-1, E-3, H-1B1, F-1, J-1, OPT, CPT or any other employment-based visa). The salary range for this position is $72,200-102,165. Individual pay will be determined based on market location and the candidate’s profile. The range listed is just one component of Peerless Grundfos’s total compensation and benefits package for employees. Total compensation includes paid time off, paid holidays, merit increases, bonuses, and employee stock purchase programs, etc. Grundfos salary rates are benchmarked and reflect the target for new hire salaries for the position in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Science required
  • 5-8 years of relevant job related experience required
  • Proven experience in supplier development, quality management, or a related role within a manufacturing environment. required
  • Strong knowledge of casting, machining, and large-scale fabrications techniques required
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally 40% regularly required
  • Ability to obtain/maintain U.S. Passport for international travel required.
  • Team Player is a must with strong communication, organizational, and written skills
  • Strong blueprint reading skills including GD&T and proficient with measuring equipment.
  • Practitioner-level knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles
  • Knowledge of Process improvement techniques (Poka -Yoke, Lean, SPC).
  • Strong knowledge of machining techniques and gauge validation
  • Exceptional attention to detail and listening skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Advanced organizational skills
  • Understanding of SAP transactions used within logistics, quality, and production processes
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Computer competency with Microsoft Office Suite, digital pictures, and e-mail.
  • Practical knowledge of using Coordinate Measurement Machines (CMM)

Responsibilities

  • Specify, develop, and validate advanced technology, quality information and test equipment.
  • Drive efficiency improvements in the supply chain through the implementation of best practices and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Conduct risk assessments of the supply chain and develop strategies to mitigate potential disruptions.
  • Initiate, manage and/or conduct engineering drawing modifications on supplier specifications in the effort of process improvement and callout Critical to Quality (CTQ) dimensions on existing drawings.
  • Register and report cost (COPQ: Cost Of Poor Quality).
  • Initiate and execute engineering changes within SAP framework
  • Identify areas for improvement in supplier processes and work closely with suppliers to implement corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Specify and develop product acceptance/test procedures that relate to a complex process (state-of-the-art) or highly complex product.
  • Perform/Guide detailed First Article Inspection and provide effective feedback provided to supply chain stakeholders.
  • Interface with component teams to prioritize supplier development needs by component to improve cost competitiveness or supply constraints.
  • Provide detailed analysis of Critical to Quality (CTQ) dimensions on Peerless Drawings to improve supplier on time delivery (OTD) and first run production yield.
  • Onsite leadership during investigations of major problems and or special projects focusing on developing working relationships with suppliers and the supply chain regarding product development and procurement of parts.
  • Supporting the implementation of supplier development strategies to significantly improve Peerless Pump’s global supply base, including Strategic Sourcing support in case of critical supplier quality.
  • Successful supplier performance, new supplier onboarding, and efficiently addressing any issues that may impact the quality or timeliness of deliveries.
