We are currently seeking a Supplier Coordinator / Material Planner for a client in the automotive industry, specializing in car manufacturing. This is a contractor position based in Charleston, SC and requires onsite presence. If you’re eager to grow your career and make a meaningful impact on exciting projects, we look forward to your application PURPOSE: This role of Supplier Coordinator / Material Planner is to assist management in planning and organizing activities to ensure the availability of USMCA-sourced Part-by-Part material. This position coordinates supply between production, purchasing, and suppliers, ensuring timely delivery, quality compliance, and effective problem resolution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics or in a related Engineering field required, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in the field of Supply Chain Management and/ or Supplier Quality.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain management principles, logistics, and inventory planning.
  • Experience with supplier relationship management and negotiation.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and MS Office, especially Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with suppliers, internal teams, and management.
  • Knowledge of USMCA regulations and compliance requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with VDA audits and supplier quality management systems.
  • Familiarity with production planning and capacity management processes.
  • Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing experience/certification.
  • Prior experience in the automotive, aerospace, or manufacturing industry.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implement objectives with assigned suppliers regarding parts supply and ensure that these objectives are kept.
  • Formulates and implements a supply chain strategy with assigned suppliers, including coordination of delivery dates and quantities, and countermeasure plans in case of unforeseeable events.
  • Provides and directs alternate plans for abnormal conditions, including, but not limited to, work stoppages at a supplier, material shortages, rejections, new priorities, etc.
  • Maintains a high degree of integrity and fairness in transactions with assigned suppliers / logistics service providers and regularly monitors that activity to ensure its consistency.
  • Develop relationships with assigned USMCA suppliers.
  • Conducts VDA audits, capacity management checks, and quality checks with USMCA suppliers.
  • Analyze capacity at suppliers and compare against production program.
  • Develop strategies and counter measures together with Supplier, Purchasing and Cost Planning in case of bottlenecks.
  • Escalates to local suppliers to resolve shipping, quality, damage, and internal issues at supplier location.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
