Air Combat Command•Nellis AFB, NV

About The Position

The position serves as the first-level supervisor for nonsupervisory employees who maintain Radar, Airfield and Weather Systems (RAWS) equipment in support of the flying mission. It plans, directs, organizes, and controls RAWS maintenance activities, ensuring maintenance complies with regulatory requirements and meets customer needs. The position also performs technical duties as an Electronics Technician. The supervisor exercises personnel management responsibilities, counsels employees on management policies and procedures, and represents the organization with installation and functional-area organizations. The role develops and maintains working relationships with the Federal Aviation Administration, National Weather Service, Air Force Flight Standards Agency, and other Department of Defense agencies. When workload requires, the employee installs, modifies, tests, repairs, overhauls, calibrates, maintains, and verifies or certifies complex integrated electronic systems and their performance. The employee determines whether systems remain operational or should be removed from service for repair or troubleshooting, and follows safety practices and tool-control procedures. Work may occur indoors and outdoors at equipment sites, on or off base, and sometimes in inclement weather or limited light. The position may involve shift work, overtime, on-call standby, callbacks, travel, and an uncommon tour of duty. It is a mission-essential key position and a drug-testing-designated position. The employee must meet RAWS training and certification requirements and maintain proficiency certification annually.
