About The Position

The primary purpose of this position is to provide acquisition legal advice to all acquisition activities located at Wright-Patterson AFB. This role involves exercising supervisory personnel management responsibilities, representing the AFMC Law Office with various organizations, and serving as Chief Legal counsel for designated acquisition programs. The incumbent will examine legal issues, maintain current knowledge of relevant statutes, regulations, and technological developments, and ensure the timely completion of administrative duties.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Must be registered for Selective Service (males).
  • Must be granted and/or maintain the appropriate security clearance.
  • Must sign a non-disclosure agreement.
  • May be subject to drug testing.
  • May be required to work other than normal duty hours, to include evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
  • Shift work and emergency overtime may be required.
  • Must maintain current certifications.
  • Must serve a probationary or trial period.
  • Must file an OGE-450, Confidential Financial Disclosure Report within 30 days of assuming position and annually thereafter by October 31st.
  • Required to attend annual ethics and procurement integrity training.
  • May require travel.
  • Required to maintain Continuing Legal Education (CLE) currency.
  • Required to maintain current knowledge of changing statutory and regulatory guidance relating to government acquisition and sustainment, as well as general developments in technology.
  • Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information.
  • Must have successfully completed a full course of study in a school of law accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA) and have the first professional law degree (LLB or JD).
  • Must provide a copy of Law School Transcripts.
  • Must provide proof, dated within four months of application, of "active" status with a bar of the highest court of a State, U.S. commonwealth, U.S. territory, or the District of Columbia.
  • Professional legal experience in excess of three years that is commensurate with the duties and responsibilities of the position.
  • Knowledge of federal acquisition law (including Systems Acquisition; Research & Development and Facilities contracting matters and the Fiscal, Taxation, Environmental, Anti-Trust, and Patents, Copyright, and technical Data Rights aspects thereof).
  • Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of a small to medium sized organization.
  • Ability to lead, guide, and advise subordinates.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Proven skill using negotiation techniques.
  • Demonstrated skill in researching legal issues, analyzing complex factual situations, and preparing written legal opinions.
  • Maintenance of a current license as an attorney and counselor-at-law in a state or territory of the United States, the District of Columbia, or the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
  • Must be currently licensed as an attorney, in active (or equivalent) status and in good standing, with the bar of a U.S. state, territory, or commonwealth.
  • Must maintain such bar membership in at least one jurisdiction during the entire course of employment.
